MAME: How many Cave games Emulated so far?

Post by Shelcoof »

Hey Shmupers

I just wanted to know how many Cave games have been emulated so far on MAME?

I remembered when I first joined Shmups that DonPachi and DoDonpachi were available on MAME but then later found out about Progears (which is an awesome game btw) available too.

This was really something special because I didn't know much about Cave at the time until I started playing PS2 ports and reading in the forums here. Games for the PS2 such as DoDonPachi DOJ, Muschihime-Sama, Ibara and ESPGaluda.

I just found out about ESPRade about two weeks ago and I going nuts because it too is pretty damn good.

And just yesterday I accidentally found two others while trying to fix up my romset for MAME 128. I found Guwang and Dengue Fever.

I'm pretty amazed and fortunate to have the opportunity to even get to play these games.

So I'm wondering is there anything else that I'm missing from Cave?
Or are there any other great shooters out there that I may have let me slip by that I could try out on MAME?

I know of a lot of shooters but if you guys want to drop some great names I'll definitely give them a shot :)

Thanks
Jimmy

I didn't know that MarsMatrix was created by CAVE?

I never really liked it, had it on the Dreamcast and I thought it was published by Capcom?

It's not by Cave! lol! Thread of the year.

Indeed, it's by Capcom. The only game I would confuse is Progear, which actually uses a board made by Capcom (CPS-something, I always forget the name).

Going serious, games emulated are:

DonPachi
DoDonPachi
Esp.Ra.De
Guwange
Dangun Feveron
Progear (Progear No Arashi)

Joking again:

KETUI, ChoPonCapi Dai-Tou-Hou, Munch Munch Nice Pork and Death Smiling, Espaldadura I and II and the others are spread across arcades, PS2 and now the Xbox 360.

Oh, and Armore Warriors. Armored Fucking Warriors. Damn amazing. Totally offtopic.

You mean it's by Takumi.

Some jp people spell it like that, actually, because the "s" is kind of optional (see also: "Tuneki Ikeda").

By the way, ChinPochi.

Great so I am up to date with Cave releases on MAME :)
I'll take a peek at Armore Warriors. I haven't even touched Guwang or Dangun Feveron yet, I will soon though.

After realizing that I had access to them and not even knowing it really made me think what else is there that I've missed.

I'll take a look at Armore Warriors for sure.
Thanks

TAKUMI. Oh, man, I need to learn to read. It's because of that stupid review from that magazine I used to buy: "Developer: Capcom". Score: 3%. I just can't forget of that review when I play the game. In fact, I should translate it to english...

Interesting about the KETUI detail. I actually like that more.

Hah, cheap Radiant Silbergunnu ripoff, BRAVE BLADE. Youjyuden is the most rare of cave's games. Only hardcore people who know japanese even know it exists.

CAVE is for shooting what Plato is for consciousness.

Answering your question again, straight up:

-DonPachi (US, Japan, Korean, Hong Kong versions iirc)
-DoDonPachi (International and Japan versions)
-ESP Ra.de (International and Japan versions)
-Dangun Feveron/Fever SOS (International and Japan versions)
-Puzzle Uo Poko (Japan version)
-Guwange (Japan version)
-Steep Slope Sliders (various?)
-Progear no Arashi/Progear (Japan, US, Asian&etc versions)

Other notes:
-I would throw Goketsuji Ichizoku 2/Power Instinct 2 up there, but that's not exactly a CAVE game; it's an Atlus game on CAVE hardware.
-Mars Matrix is a shmup made by Takumi and published by Capcom. I don't know why everyone calls it a CAVE game, either it's a joke or there was some weirdo collaboration that I didn't know about.
-Armored Warriors is an old Capcom beat-em-up that served as the prequel to Cyberbots, a fighting game released a year later.
-Power Instinct 2 through Guwange all use first generation CAVE hardware. Steep Slope Sliders used Sega STV (Sega Saturn) hardware. Progear uses CapcomPlaySystem2 hardware.
-Yes, Steep Slope Sliders is a CAVE game. It was published by Victor Entertainment. Credit for4 the two companies is on the title screen, and the word "CAVE" (on the title screen) is written stylized like the letters in the later CAVE logo (the one that was and is used for every game after DonPachi).

Glad someone saved the day, thought he might have to click on the manufacturer folder or that... the question has already been answered twice.

Since we've gone on to other topics in this short time- I'm going to take a second to say that if you're unfamiliar with Cave- you might not know the other companies so much.

Try out

Air Buster
Cyvern
Battle Bakraid

Change Air Blade (with friends).

Been on a binge with these games myself over the last few weeks when I have the time.

Hey all

Just got back from training :)

I didn't know Cave made games other than Shmups.

I've heard of many Shmups but I haven't heard about Cyvern yet..
I'll give that one a shot too put it on my list.

Anyways all I appreciate the post and suggestions.
Thanks a bunch :)
