Very good ports - these are simply rereleases of the Capcom Generations discs.

From what I hear, the first two are good, while Super Ghouls is nearly identical to the SNES version. The PS1 can't do the wide resolution of Goblins and Ghouls, so I hear those are a little off. The Saturn version is the opposite - perfect versions of Goblins and Ghouls, but Super is a little off, due to resolution issues.SheSaidDutch wrote:Has anyone played this disc it includes Ghosts and Goblins, Ghouls and ghosts and super ghouls and ghost

Lousy. There was a comparison thread on the old board between the original, Saturn, and PS1 versions, complete with videos. If you don't have a Neo Geo (MVS, AES, or CD), your best bet is the Saturn version, which isn't perfect, but still pretty good. Also How was the port of Metal Slug one onthe PSX?

If you're looking at whether it was arcade perfect, then yeah a lot of the animation and stuff was cut.Lousy. But the game still plays quite well without it. So while it may be a lousy port, it's still a pretty good run n gun.
You're arguing for a universe with fewer waffles in it. I'm prepared to call that cowardice.

You can get 3 in the US on the Xbox.Bar81 wrote:Actually, you'd be better off picking up MS X on the PSX as it's a better game than 3, 4, or 5 imo. And out of those three, 3 is the best by far although it may be JP only.

The PS1 and Saturn Capcom Gen. 2 are both great. The resolution differences only matter if you're really, really, really picky about that sort of thing. I own the PS and Saturn versions (loooove those games) and they're both excellent.
MS 1 for the PS gets no love due to missing animation and long load times, but it's way cheaper than any other port. The Saturn port usally goes for what, at least $60 even without the ram cart? You can get the PS version for $20 brand new. It's still in print even. The hard-core fans will hang me for this, but I really don't think the PS version is nearly as bad as people make it out to be.

I favor the Saturn Ghouls & Ghosts because the backgrounds in the PSOne version are extremely dark. I had to crank up the brightness and contrast on my tv to at least see something. Also the scaling during the intro (were the Arthur & Princess Prin Prin are embracing, and the demon burst through the window) in the PSOne Super Ghouls & Ghosts has this weird pause everytime it cuts back and forth between the two scenes. Still, the PSOne version of Super Ghouls & Ghosts is the correct resolultion when compared to the Saturn version. Hopefully when Capcom brings out Capcom Classic Collection they don't base it on the PSOne Ghouls & Ghosts.

Get MSX, and 5. MS3 isn't worth your time on the Xbox. It's so fucken long and hard that by the time you practice enough to finish it, the world will end. I don't know how people consider this the best MS around. Overrated.
"Sooo, what was it that you consider a 'good salary' for a man to make?"
"They should at least make 100K to have a good life"

I had it for a short while (before giving away my Xbox with all the games), and I found the unability to creditfeed a nice challenge, causing me to put more time into exploring different pathways than I normally would have done. And from what I heard about the Metal Slug series, the different paths are really MS3´s strong point where it shines above all other parts.Get MSX, and 5. MS3 isn't worth your time on the Xbox. Personally, I prefer part 1, though, pure military setting without any aliens, camels, zombies, robots or whatever. If I want gameplay, I rather play Turrican anyway.
I agree with raiden, MS1 is the best in the series. Of course, last time I said that the hardcore MS players accused me of only liking it because it's "easy". I think what's really nice is it throws a nice variety of stuff at you, doesn't contain 50,000 aliens, and doesn't make you kill 20,000 in one level, when 200 would do.

I agree completely. The game plays as much as well as the arcade version, sans loading times and animation cuts.Cthulhu wrote:MS 1 for the PS gets no love due to missing animation and long load times, but it's way cheaper than any other port. I always think stupid how someone can say this kind of port is a "waste of money". I remember when I used to play R-Type on the MSX or Kangaroo on Atari 2600.. or even Final Fight on Amiga, and I was very happy, even though those were EONS away from the arcade version (Like that Spectrum Flying Shark thread ).
