Indeed it is. It pops up on Yahoo Japan from time to time. I always got outbid a year or so ago when I was looking for it though.

I think a Japanese eBay store had a copy a month or two ago, it was in the realm of $170 or so if I remember correctly.

The seller of this auction:

Rayxanber FM Towns

I have this emulated, so I'll give you some bigger screenshots......

Stage 5:

If your fimiliar any of the two sequels, it plays more or less the same as those, although the graphics seem more colorful and the difficulty, while still somewhat challenging, is not quite on the level of Rayxanber II. The soundtrack isnt to shabby either.

(I know the T is just fading in in the pic, but the screenshot looks amusing.)

Nice find! I have RayX 2 and 3, and they are pretty good. I wondered what RayX 1 was on, and now I know. ^_^
Thanks for the pics and vids.

Data West actually has no relation whatsoever with Data East.

And they're not really badass either, they mainly made software and games for Japanese PCs like FM Towns. Today they mainly do network solutions and other boring shit.

@rolins

Those are some great videos you put up on YouTube! Rude Breaker looks amazing!

Here's another one that I made using UNZ. I had put my Rayxanber up for auction on eBay a few months ago once for $76.50 and it went for just that price.

The difficulty is basically in the R-Type style, but harder- right up there with Rezon.

Rolins- I'll second CIT about Rude Breaker, and I'll also say Kotsujin looks darn good.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

That's funny.... when I watched the Vid of stage one I instantly remembered the music. It's the same music in part 2 during the 1st stage. I had the second game on PC engine; how was the 3rd game on the same system?
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Thanks for comments guys. Glad some of you liked Rude Breaker. I'll be adding more unknown shooting games to youtube. Such as these

PC-98
Burning Dragon - Raiden-clone shooter, one the best
Binyu Hunter - Rail Shooter, quite cool
Rude Breaker - possibly Stage 3 + 4 b/c the music rocks

PC-88
Final Crisis - Nice fast hori shooter
Luxor: Nights Over Egypt - decent enough

FM-Towns
I want to add more vids on Tatsujin-Ou and Kyukyoku Tiger. Especially Kyukyoku Tiger for its awesome arrange soundtrack.

I like it, the backgrounds are a slight weakpoint but detail, music, gameplay tweaks (missiles are a great addition) made it one of my favorite PCE games. *-neo

II was a good game, with an insane level of difficulty (the stages were way harder than the bosses). III balanced the difficulty a bit, while adding more detail to everything, and putting in weapons that were more effective. There's a review of it here.

Wow it looks really nice. I miss 2, I'll have to track down both. How much do they run now?

II is pretty cheap, running between $25 and $35 usually. III on the other hand, runs around $60-$90 for one that's in good shape.

There's a lot of both on eBay at the moment.
