Anyone listen to mixsets and recordings of live shows? I've been downloading them over the past decade, especially of sets I've either been to (Godskitchen's multi-DJ 9hr set in the main hall of Newcastle Arena being my favorite) or have missed (Blur's special concert a few years ago, and Paul Van Dyk at The Gallery's Turnmills in '97), and was just curious if there's anyone else out there who likes this stuff. Recently came across a good 45min mix of Capsule x Perfume x Coltemonikha on nicovideo.

Saviour Machine - Legend II
I hadn't listened to this album in years, but I just dug it out today and it's almost better than I even remember. Lately (over the past year or two) I've mostly just been interested electronic and dance music, so whenever I pull out one of my old metalcore or goth or hip-hop or even classical cds it's really nostalgic.

Anyone in to techy/grindy metal, check out the Plasmarifle. Good stuff. I wish the production were a bit heavier, but with the way it is now, it gives the bass drops extra punch.
Feedback will set you free.

I picked this up on your recommendation. Still a bit undecided...Acid King wrote:Anyone in to techy/grindy metal, check out the Plasmarifle. Good stuff. I wish the production were a bit heavier, but with the way it is now, it gives the bass drops extra punch.
This thread sparked a big metal kick for me. This past week I have been listening to lots of:
Dystopia - s/t
Trap Them - Seizures in Barren Praise
Max Tundra - Parallax Error Beheads You
^ anyone liking this? sometimes the lyrics can be a bit banal but once you've listened a few times to a track you don't hear them anymore and there's just the awesome melodies and production left

Fudge Tunnel - The Complicated Futility of Ignorance
Only Living Witness - Prone Mortal Form and Innocents
Belphegor - Necrodaemon Terrorsathan (gotta love that album title)
She Said Destroy - Time Like Vines
Doomriders - Black Thunder
Spaceboy - Getting Warm on the Trail of Heat

The first two tracks are kinda weak but I think starting with the third track it hits a stride in the mid section of the album. I love the opening to "I hold you close to my heart" and the section of "Exhaling Life.." about a minute in to the track. I'm definitely not a fan of the bass sound though.gabe wrote:

I bought it last week and while I haven't listened to it extensively I am liking it so far. I don't think it's as strong as his previous record though.szycag wrote:Max Tundra - Parallax Error Beheads You

I haven't checked this thread in months, and the first new post I see mentions me. Weird.
A good place to get started for the uninitiated is www.dimeadozen.org . Nowadays people trade via torrents, and it's a lot easier, but a good deal of the charm is lost in the process. I still prefer the old days when we'd mail tapes/CDs in a trade. I don't fool around with the torrent nonsense too much.
Well it is pretty tricky.Rob wrote:I remember twe mentioning (but can't remember his newer name)Icarus wrote:Anyone listen to mixsets and recordings of live shows?
Yes, that's right. Not just slowdive though, lots of different stuff. I have about 600 recordings, and about 10 masters I recorded myself (including The Sea and Cake, Aimee Mann, Dido, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Sigur Ros, Neil Halstead, and Emiliana Torrini- many of these remain uncirculated). It took me about 6 years of intensive trading (meaning at least 1-2 trades through the mail every week) to amass that. Good times, and i met a lot of cool people in the process.an obsessive collection of live recordings. Probably slowdive or something.

No offense, just thought I had to explain calling someone by an older username. Haven't been browsing around many Cave threads.EOJ wrote:Well it is pretty tricky.

Guess I'll post another:
Orion Rigel Dommisse - What I Want from You is Sweet -- Language of Stone Records has been the one major highlight this year, almost everything really good psych-folk. RIYL Espers and if you haven't heard them, try II.

Revolutions Per Minute -- Rise Against
Greater than Four -- A Suffusion of Yellow
Master of Puppets -- Metallica
S.C.I.E.N.C.E -- Incubus
Yeah.
There are a lot more, but since my iPod fell, and the HDD died, I haven't heard a lot of them in recent times.

Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.
I got this LP when I was 14...brings back some good memories. I do prefer We Are The Romans though.Rob wrote:Botch - American Nervoso

i saw dragonforce live a few nights ago so i've been listening to all their stuff lately. new album isn't bad (but the cover and title on the other hand...)
and...the gradius III soundtrack

That's a pretty cool link for all sorts of stuff. I'm a trancehead however, and swear by BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix collection, as well as assorted recordings of other live sets from other radio stations, like Galaxy 105.6FM. I usually go to The Mixing Bowl, TrancePodium and (when it works) TranceAddict, as well as other general torrent sites.EOJ wrote:A good place to get started for the uninitiated is www.dimeadozen.org .
Got a 2hr set blasting at the moment - Pete Tong and Paul Van Dyk @ The Gallery, Turnmills [R1 Essential Mix - 04.04.1999] - and have capsule rmx by capsule and Coltemonikha 2 by Coltemonikha queued up.
