SD: Gradius 3 SNES secret level screenshot maps

Post by Galaxius »

I made these screenshot maps awhile back, and thought I'd throw them out for anyone who is interested. This is a sample of the
*Stellar cartography* that I have done, as I have the other two Gradius 3 secret level maps, all three Gradius 2 MSX secret level maps, also the INNER CORE level map from that game, and the Egyptian level of Life Force NES (the latter part of the level, with the maze plotted, along with the hidden-power-ups).

All of these are high quality. I checked the location of each bonus and enemy numerous times, though I might have made a mistake here and there. One thing though, the Gradius 3 SNES maps lack identification of the regenerating point bonuses. Even though these bonuses appear on the map, they are identical to other bonuses, and as a result, unmarked.

If anyone wants the other maps I have, just let me know. I'd be happy to give them out to anyone, for whatever purpose. If you use these on a website, please credit them to-

Yeah, that is sweet. Brings back memories of looking at Nintendo Power maps. (which isn't that long ago since I used an old '91 issue last month for NES Metroid :P )

It's a long and tedious process, to say the least. But the end result is quite nice. You have to take dozens of screenshots, edit them together, and reference them with the game to make sure everything is as accurate as possible.

I'd like to put the Gradius 2 MSX maps up, but they are considerably bigger in filesize than the Gradius 3 maps. (Around 500kbs a piece in JPEG format). But I don't have the bandwidth to do so. Just throw me your email, Zach, and they will arrive directly:)

One more thing, while these maps look nice as JPEGs, you should see how crisp and colorful they are as bitmaps. Really nice stuff:)

The other two maps can be found on Gamestone's Gradius 3 SNE page-

Nice work!
I've been studying some Gradius level design maps recently myself so these will prove helpful.
