Thunderforce VI: Rare/Collectable in the future?

Post by Shelcoof »

Hey Shmup fans :)

Who thinks Thunderforce VI will be a Rare collectible in the future?

It's happened before with other shooters and it most likely will happen again with TF6. Thunderforce VI current sales so far is less than 10,000 (from the source I got it from anyways)

Who else thinks history will repeat itself with Thunderforce VI where later down the road people will start bidding outrageous prices for it and players who bought it now will call them all suckers?

:)

You could always buy multiple copies - one to play and the others to hoard in the off-chance that it becomes valuable. In the process of doing so, you'd be ensuring it sells more copies though, which may encourage them to produce more thus increasing it's potential to become popular and reducing its value. It's a conundrum.

It doesn't only apply to Shooters but every other gendre as well, espcially RPGs. It's insane how much people would pay for a very common game like Final Fantasy VII.

It's sad that there are people out there who buy games just because it's rare or they think it's rare. Too bad because the best part of collecting games is the fact that you can enjoy them.

I only bought one and planning on keeping it. Not planning to buy anymore either in the hopes that it might go up in price.

I know many people who do but they end up losing instead of making a profit. Not a good investment.

Who cares if the game becomes collectible or not, I just want the game to be good. As a matter of fact I would love for the game to be excellent and start extremely expensive and then be worthless, so that the ones that bought it for the love of the game and the series know that there's no regrets in paying for games that you care about. And that leaves cretins like you scratching your head with whatever resale or shelving glory you might feel of possessing something valuable.

Gradius V anyone?

I have plenty of games that I love that don't cost much and I don't regret paying full price and keeping them ever. What I do regret is paying an arm and a leg for game and not getting my money's worth.

Gradius V is another excellent game that can be had for a decent price. I'm glad because people out there can proud to own an excellent game without paying an arm and a leg for it.

It's strange because I actually agree with that statement to an extent. Sega has published a number of excellent games that flopped or go on without much notice.

Panzer Dragoon Orta is an excellent example of a gem that doesn't get much attention and is easily obtainable for like 20$.

I bought the game new for 60$ and I don't regret it at all.

I'm wondering how anyone can think a game this bad could ever become rare or collectible.

I don't like to press a button three times just to switch weapon. Im dead by then.
In TFV there was the option of choosing one button for each weapon, seems like that's not the case here?

Worked for Einhander.

No, this game is not Space Invaders.

The difference lies in the fact that Einhander was cool as the underside of a pillow.

TF6 is not as bad as people say. I think it's "Ibara Syndrome". This happens when a few people dislike it- and that spreads like wildfire.

Single button weapon switching is standard in all Thunderforce games, and is pretty easy to get used to.
Multi-button mapping of weapons is wasted in TFV anyway, since you're using Free Range 95% of the time.

Problem being that Einhander is neither rare, collectible, or suffers from everything and anything that makes TFVI bad, such as: poor stage design; short, unimaginative stages; easy bosses; substandard visual design (for the hardware); music that aside from the intro is unmemorable; poor weapon balance; lack of gameplay and scoring depth that relies on unlockables for longevity and interest, and other things.

Sort of like taking the worst elements from previous TF games and rolling them into one, and adding a few extra bits of junk along the way. The TF fanservice is nice, but there's no game to back it up.

If you buy every exclusive PS2 shooter, at least one of them is bound to increase in value like Harmful Park for PS1. Good luck!

rarity of TFVI

Post by vasteel1 »

I honestly don't see this game being highly collectible with the negative feedback recieved by the gaming community so far. I could be wrong but this does not have "classic" written all over it. I'm not the only one dissappointed with it either maybe our expectations were just too high.
Remember I am VASTEEL1 with the number at the end!! :-)

It's all relative. One of the most expensive Saturn games is RSG. But in the grand scheme of things RSG isn't that expensive really. So you bought it new for £40 but now you can sell it for £140. Go you. Not.

unless a large number of these games are destroyed, I don't see them becoming any more rare then they already are. Obviously there will be fewer available on the open market the farther we go from the games last pressing, but that doesn't mean the games no longer exist.

It's the sealed games 'collector' syndrome all over again. Hence why we should all keep our games sealed. Cellophane never looked so well before.

There's no point keeping games sealed in an economic crisis. Even if you bought two right now and sold the second one for double the original cost, you're only paying back your own personal copy along with the one you originally intended to sell.

It's pointless, much like this thread.

Well I was going to come in here and start flaming like a crazy man at people who buy games to NOT play them, but I see it's already been well covered.

All I'll add is that the poll needs a "I'm a silly twat" option.
