Re: Denjin Arcade in Southern California has Ibara etc.
Seeing that Strikers 1945 Plus in the shmup list for Denjin Arcade, it is a tate game but presented in yoko mode (i.e. Gigawing, Gigawing II, Mars Matrix, Night Raid, etc.) and running on the oldie but goodie Neo-Geo MVS hardware. A better alternative would be the Psikyo produced Strikers 1999/Strikers 1945 III PCB iterations with tate. I recall playing it at my local movie theather until it was removed...had to break down and buy such a Strikers 1999 PCB just to be able to play it again at my leisure. Such a fine Strikers shmup game worthy of the numeral "3" and the very last one in the series to be produced. ^_~Dave_K. wrote:Ah, forgot the OP mentioned that. So only 2 of those games listed are vertical, the rest are horizontal...ok thats why I couldn't find tated screens in the pics. Good to know, and agree respectible number compared to arcades that are left alive in the US anyway.Necronopticous wrote:This is a very respectable amount of shmups for an American arcade. Easily the most I've ever seen in one location. Very noble of the owner to bother, really, since only a small handful of Americans actually pop credits into these kinds of games.adversity1 wrote:Pro Gear, Ibara, Shiki Gami No Shiro III, Giga Wing 1 & 2, Strikers 1945 Plus.

See you soon!
Those are some damn fine hours for your cool arcade hangout.
Have any plans to open another one of your arcade franchises in Central California in the nearby future? Modesto, CA hasn't had an independently-owned arcade hangout since Nickel Play closed it's doors down for good back in March of 1998. Such an arcade like yours with just all Japanese candy cabinets would do quite well over there. ^_~
Good luck with your arcade business endeavor, Shogo.

this is very cool and I'd love to see somebody open up an arcade in kansas city. years ago me and my sister just stopped our weekly visits to a random arcade to play games after they started closing down ones that had games we liked. man was I hooked on raiden fighters back then(2002 was the last year we did this).
Randomly came across Shogo's flicker site, and looks like he had a SF3 tournament on Sunday. Here are a few pics. Arcade looks very nice.

My mom and brothers live in Moorpark which is only five minutes from Simi. I am going to visit on Thursday and will definitely check this place out.

For Dave K.,
Thanks for the heads up about that flicker site on Denjin Arcade...very cool arcade. Too bad there's nothing of that caliber "independent arcade-wise" in the Central Valley area of California for now. The corporate owned arcade chains in the Greater Modesto, CA area don't know what they're missing. Gotta get the popular games that rake in the cash and still stay current like how it is in the Japanese game center scene nowdays. They don't know jackshit when it comes to stocking their arcades. Mostly the same ol' stale arcade game shit as always. ^_~
If you have a good eye for detail, those plastic stools featured inside Denjin Arcade are from the local Ikea store. They work just fine for their affordable price. Ah, but wouldn't it be better to get some bona-fide Japanese arcade gaming stools instead? That'd be the final "crowning" touch to that particular arcade indeed. Please do consider getting some in, Shogo. After sitting on that Ikea brand plastic stool for hours on end, one's rump tends to favor such a velvety and plush gaming stool fit for a king any ol' day. ^_~

Please do take some pics with your handy digital camera. And be sure to take some pics of the arcade shmups in action would be even better. ^_~
