They've improved the graphics with time, this has also led to bullets melting into the background.

Enemy ships and bullets are hard to distinguish and there were many points where I got killed before I even knew it.

The background, ships and bullets all tend to bleed into each other which got on my nerves.

If you're used to HD quality shooting titles, the graphics here may dissapoint
Thanks for the translation :D
Sounds like they did not include 480p mode, may they burn in hell.

However if you really get into the game it has a real character.
a fairly low score coupled with that remark is really the best possible verdict for a shmup isnt it?
the destruction of everything, is the beginning of something new. your whole world is on fire, and soon, you'll be too..

I'll obviously withhold any "real" judgment until I get the chance to play this, but if what the reviewer says is true, it utterly boggles my mind that in this day and age developers are still careless enough to not address something as stupidly simple as bullet visibility. Honestly, at least include a "garish but practical" color option - the purists can be sneak-killed as many times as they want, but leaving everyone else out in the cold drives me as nuts as it ever has.

Hopefully the reviewer overstated the problem...

In every screen shot and video I've seen so far the enemy bullets look absolutely fine. Can't see how they'd get lost in the scenery.

Blah, blah, blah, six stages, 3 ships, too short. Sounds like your typical bullshit shmup review of the day.

Looking at the second photo at that site, I can well believe that the glowing bullets can easily blend with the explosions. 'Explosion colored" bullets should have gone out of fashion a long time ago.

Does anyone know what the deal is with the soundtrack for the game? Does it come in all copies of the game? Is it a pre-order bonus?

It's a sampler CD with only a few tracks and it seems to come with all pre-orders in Japan. Play-Asia getting the game from a HK distributor might be a different case.

Bullsh*t.

The game is probably being graded by a bunch of guys who were infants when the first thunderforce games were produced and were raised on FPS on next gen systems. WTF would someone like that know about an old school shmup and how to rate it?

Still looks to be the best home-release of a shmup this month.

OK, with the release date fast approaching and that latest video looking great I'm getting caught up in the hype and will probably preorder. Just wanted to mention that YesAsia has it available and is still doing their free shipping. I've had great luck with them in the past, though it has been at least a year since I've ordered. In case anyone can benefit from saving a few bucks... it will take an extra week or two to get to you, however.

Any reason no one seems to be using them? Did I miss a horror story since my last import splurge???

Shouldn't be. Their reviews are just as shitty as any western rag.

I just realized that the Japanese release date of Sega's Thunderforce VI marks the 20th anniversary of the original Japanese Sega Mega Drive console. What a perfect day to release this game. :)

(Ok, releasing TF6 on the 10th anniversary would have been even better, but delays happen... ;))

OMG I'm getting blex'ed
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Just got a message from P-A saying they've shipped my order. With some luck I'll be playing the game this week as I opted for the fastest shipping available.

FYI for those in Japan, you can get your hands on this today if you go to a store that sells early.

Some brief impressions of the game after playing last night:

Music is awesome. I could do without the buttrock, but there are thousands of long-hairs who will be pleased. The ambient/techno almost aphex-ish tracks are really great. Shit, I really want that soundtrack!

Opening FMV is really nice too.

I was able to get to level 5 without any real trouble, and it's on level 5 where you really have to start changing up your weapons, as you'll have enemies below and behind you that can't be dealt with in any other way. Game is not very hard, and there are 1ups in levels 3 and 4.

Hey thanks for the impressions adversity! I have looked up the 2ch boards for TFVI for some information. Although details are sketchy on what the Japanese are trying to say, they seemed to mention the last stage takes place in the enemy fort, with the last boss being a foetus/embryo with 3 forms. No kidding on that last one.

Nothing exceptionally shocking or unseen. TFV too had a last boss that you basically were giving birth to, by making pregnant a sort of computer system gone mad...
