Haha, you think I'm a Cave fanboy? Far from it.
No, your posts were split to a different thread because they were, as Rob perfectly put it, boring rants. Your position on this was made clear loooong ago and the thread became nothing but you claiming the game's a demo and other people claiming it's not. So this thread needed to be salvaged for the people who actually want to discuss the game further and not just whether it's worthy of its pricetag.

No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Wow, I didn't think the XBox 360 Portable was being released so soon... that's good news at least...Zweihander wrote:If there's this much hype surrounding a $60 demo, imagine the celebration when the full game is released on the 360 for $70... :roll:Ed Oscuro wrote:Coincidentally, I was about to post "32 pages of 'Ketsui for DS?'"Rob wrote:So wait, 4+ pages of your boring rants were removed and now you're back at it?

as far as I know it is, but it's so hard to find out in all this constant shitstorm in the threads. I know it's not the full game but if it's ONLY just a bunch of bosses then I don't care that much about it... especially with a full port on the way...I wonder when people will stop asking this Confused
was just curious enough to ask but not hunt through this mess.... continue the drama....
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Hmmm.. I just got the email from PlayAsia to say my copy has been shipped - I went for cheap postage at $2.90 to the UK...bcass wrote:That link doesn't work for me. When I go via the shop, I get it at $58 for the game, plus $24 for shipping (to the UK). There is no choice in shipping method, it defaults to $24.EOJ wrote:Where did you see that? Everything I've had sent standard delivery from PA has taken roughly a week to get to Blighty, so it's not too bad. Good job on ignoring the temptation to have it sent by UPS: they always charge huge amounts of import tax. £1.50 to have something sent to you from Hong Kong, via Japan, and dodge a hefty on the spot payment is good value in my eyes

Who said anything about an Xbox 360 Portable? As much as I'd love RROD's and disc scratch errors on-the-go...umi wrote:Wow, I didn't think the XBox 360 Portable was being released so soon... that's good news at least...Zweihander wrote:If there's this much hype surrounding a $60 demo, imagine the celebration when the full game is released on the 360 for $70...Ed Oscuro wrote: Coincidentally, I was about to post "32 pages of 'Ketsui for DS?'"
But no. Port =/= portable. The 360 port of Ketsui is officially in the works, though.

The picture above is useless, here is what the final product looks like in the flesh. The contents comes in a factory sealed cardboard box, Shenmue style.
I have it now, FIRST.
I mithered it a day early see:

Ah yeah, great, nothing feels better than leaving the house for a quick trip to the supermarket on a long day of working at home and then find a little card saying "You can fetch your package with this card but not before the next working day" on a friday.MX7 wrote:I don't think my letter box will be able to take its fury, so I guess I'm going to have to hang around the house for an age waiting for the postman to knock

Pretty much nothing; you can keep it held down so you can still do a bit of damage when you release your laser to make a quick dodge.
Other than that it makes bosses spit out blue chips which appear to be 1s, and makes killing popcorn enemies easy in the one thirty second stage that has them. And even in that mini-stage, it's not significantly better, it's just kind of like "well I've got this and it does have a wider shot than my laser so hey"
Honestly, it's mostly there because it'd be weird for it not to be there.
EDIT: That said, I'm mostly trying to survive and have no Ketsui experience. It's possible that there's some sort of scoring mechanic based around those blue chips and I'm just completely clueless.
EDIT 2:
Some options are:
-Auto-Bomb off/on. Default is on; autobombing uses all your bombs and puts you into a kind of kakusei, where bullets are purple and move slowly for a while. During this mode, if you get too close to any bullets they'll turn into red 5 chips which seem to increase your chip counter. If you manually bomb all bullets on the screen turn into red chips, which is significantly better. Autobomb seems to decrease your chip counter 25%; manual doesn't seem to affect it.
-Box Display; can change from "on" to 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32 frames. Boxes didn't bother me until I tried 4 frames which is niiiice
-Main Display (top/bottom)
-Contrast settings to DS or DS Light. Can't really tell the difference myself.
Elsewhere in the options menu there's something called "Data Initialize" and I have no clue what that does.
There is apparently a replay feature. From what I can tell you go there after your run and save your last run's replay to one of two slots (three if you count the last game slot)
There's some sort of download feature, as well as what appears to be a wireless replay sharing feature. Multiplayer too.

DON'T press that. Will probably reset your save data.CStarFlare wrote:

Ok, my impressions of the game so far:
Fun!
The game has the standard Ketsui mechanic where the closer you get to an enemy, the higher the value of the multiplier chip you receive. So basically you want to be as close to bosses as possible to maximize the multiplier, which then is calculated against the point value of the boss and its parts.
One thing that is definitely new is that you will collect multiplier chips even when you bomb. The closer bullets are to you when you bomb, the higher your multiplier will climb. Since your three bombs refresh for each boss, it is critical to both use these and use them intelligently. If you no-miss a boss, your bomb count goes up to four meaning more chips.
There are four colors of chips:
Green chips you get from popcorn enemies.
Beige chips you get from bosses/laser enemies.
Red chips you get when bombing.
Blue chips you get when using shot.
The EVAC reports as described elsewhere are like achievements, and you get them for really random stuff like changing the sound settings but also important stuff like high scores, destroying all the parts on a boss etc. As they unlock, panels are taken away on pictures of the bosses. Each time you get a picture unlocked new features open up. And you can ask IKDsan more stuff. There are 113 panels with one big one on the last page, which could be the replay? Or something else. Hopefully the replay is relatively simple to get.
Playing through the courses themselves is fun, and there's no reason to get discouraged given that the game keeps increasing your life count so that you can get through them all. Good players however will not lose many lives, maximize their bomb usage and get quite high scores.
