You sort of sync your A button presses when attacking. Its easier if you learn the rhythm for each enemy by putting them to sleep, when they're sleeping you hear their "heartbeat"

Played for about 4 hours yesterday (well, it was a Saturday :p), and I'm loving the game so far. Does anyone else think it's a fair bit harder than Earthbound? Even though I've been playing everything at a slow pace and investigating everything, I'm still finding myself having to grind and farm healing items every so often to beat a boss. Not too bad though.

I'm obviously not going to say anything about the plot, but I do want to say that playing as adult characters is absolutely fascinating. There's a definite mature flavour with this instalment, and while it is still very funny at times, long gone are the Enid Blyton-esque stylings of its predecessor.

Also, I like the bemani combo system. It doesn't really make too much of a difference, but it's a nice touch regrdless :)

Heh, it does make quite a difference in hard endurance battles.

Downloaded the patch and applied the patch to a ROM I had lying around just for this purpose. Just started playing, but it looks like those guys did an awesome job, it looks very professional. Runs great on my M3 Real flash cart. (Good thing, because I feel emulating hand held games on an stationary system is just.....wrong).

Nintendo are such bastards for not releasing this game to the rest of the world.

Is your game saving okay on your flash cart? I got mine to play just fine, but it doesn't want to save my games.

Yep, saving just fine for me. Just keep trying to save, it'll pick it up eventually.

This is for the people who have already played through the game a bit, might be SPOILERS but no specifics really. Most of it you'll have derived by the first few chapters.

There's no doubt in my mind why NOA didn't bring this here. The mostly impossible to translate japanese puns and pop culture references are obviously a good enough excuse. But the plot seems like one huge critique of American foreign policy. I shouldn't have to list everything off, it should hit you in the face. Add to that the gang of drag queens protecting the world from chaos (yep you'll see those guys a lot...) westerners can't even stand Tingle in Zelda, try a whole flock of goosey trannies tied inseperably into the plot. No need going into the incredibly depressing opening chapter, really.

I could see a lot of people either being offended by this game (OMG Nintendo made an anti-capitalist pro-homogays cartoony kids game call Bill O'Reilly) or just hating it (you're just on that island the whole time, it tries too hard to be risque and dramatic, where's the scratch and sniff cards this game stinks)

I fucking love this game by the way. It's nothing like I would have imagined, so I'll miss Earthbound a bit for a while, but then it'll just come out of nowhere with something that makes my jaw drop. I just really wish I could play it in it's native language.

I have played the game in Japanese up until the last chapter, and yeah, does seem like a parody of American policy. (That's why I love it and I'm an American). The transvestites would probably offend quite alot of people, but they didn't bother me that much. (One part did disturb me however, it's when Lucas gets PSI for the first time, it looks like Lucas is guying the guy a blowjob).

Gay undertones aside, I think the real message of the game is anti-technology, that we shouldn't completely depend on it (ironic given that it's a VIDEOGAME).

I'm giving too much away, it's better if you just play it and find out for yourself. I stumbled through the Japanese verison and I kinda had an idea of what was going on through the actions of the characters.

Even though there is really no hope of this game making it over here, Nintendo are still bastards for not releasing it. (And sticking Lucas into Smash Bros Brawl to add insult to injury).

Meh, their loss, they pretty much alienated their hardcore fans anyway (you know, people like me who had an NES, SNES, N64, and every gameboy made). I got the flash cart because I'm a cheap bastard and alot of DS games out there aren't worth the money and you can't rent the fuckers anyway. That, and to play romhacks like this one.

I'm actually glad this didn't come out for the 64dd after all. The whole "hideous 3d for the sake of being 3d" N64/PSX/Saturn era hijinks are best forgotten..

Has a lot of heart, and is content dense almost to a fault. Walk slightly off screen or talk to the wrong guy, miss about a page's worth of sassy comments on the situation from the NPC's.

And the boss you can miss in chapter 5; damn them. I didn't check that place out since I had no reason they'd do something so cruel to me; nothing in the game up to that point made me think it'd be one of those games. :fistshake:

Urgh. And I like how every enemy has its own little theme song. And trippy LSD background...

I've downloaded the Rom, applied the patch ok, downloaded VisualBoy Advance, installed and run Vbam, but of course that gets me no nearer to running the game

I'll have to get someone round to sort it out for me.
