R-Type Dimensions Coming to Xbox Live Arcade
if you watch the trailer and see the game select screen, it has the two cabinets on display which spin around depending which game you select. Is it me or is there the potential for them to put in more cabinets?
R-Type Leo as an extra purchase anyone?

I'm definitely interested! Though I'm not the biggest R-Type fan, co-op sounds and looks like a lot of fun. And since it's not bullet-hell, maybe I cany talk my fiancé into playing with me.
Basically it's a tweaked version of UGnG that plays more like the older games (i.e. finishing twice rather than ring collect-a-thon, charge to cast magic etc.) Both versions (Kai and Original) are included in the release, too.
OT, but have you heard about Goku Makaimura Kai?gigadrive32 wrote:I was kinda disappointed with Ultimate Ghosts 'N Goblins on PSP

video games suck
I'm hoping Jockel meant droves of mindless MS fanboy gamers who don't question this kind of re-release rather than the numerous Xbox 360 owners who are just as into worthy gaming as a PCB collecters and import Saturn junkies etc...Zero Gunner wrote:Funny how us "Xbox kiddies/Xbots" are totally pissed off .Jockel wrote:Now this totally explains the "Dimensions" title.
But who on earth would play this in crappy, confusing 3d?
Oh wait lemme guess: xbox kiddies.
Excellent. I knew nothing about this, totally slipped under my radar. Loved the original PSP release.honorless wrote:OT, but have you heard about Goku Makaimura Kai?gigadrive32 wrote:I was kinda disappointed with Ultimate Ghosts 'N Goblins on PSP

OT: Yeah I heard about Goku Makaimura Kai, I'd even buy it if it was released here.honorless wrote:I'm definitely interested! Though I'm not the biggest R-Type fan, co-op sounds and looks like a lot of fun. And since it's not bullet-hell, maybe I cany talk my fiancé into playing with me.

I hope R-Type Dimensions does really well and convinces Tozai Inc and Irem to collaborate on a higher budget fully released current-gen HD R-Type game. I know I'm dreaming but, then, I was dreaming about a remade version of R-Type with updated art & graphics, it happened.

No, 2 player is for both modes as far as I can tell. Plus you can switch back and forth between the 2D and the "3D" modes with on the fly...so I can't imagine that you'd be playing a co-op game in the new 3D mode and , deciding to switch to the classic look, that your fellow player is suddenly booted out of the game.Mortificator wrote:So is the two-player mode only available with the 3D graphics? I still like the sprites better. It wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't, though; 2P looks like lots of fun regardless.
It had better run at 60fps.
I wish they'd stop wasting time though, and just remake Delta with a smoother engine. Imagine Delta with Gradius V quality graphics (but in HD), with Dolby surround.

You got it =)
You won't hear me complaining about this 3d. These screenshots look alot like the artwork from the old games. I feel like dancin!

I dunno, sometimes i wish people could learn to appreciate stuff better. This game isn't even out and a good chunk of this forum is bashing something that is just... well, awesome. We get a new R-Type!

Godzilla was an inside job
Haven't posted in forever, but was looking for some discussion about all the shooters that seem to be coming to 360 soon so popped by.
I played R-Type Dimensions (could have sworn it was called R-Type Infinity...) it at TGS on Sunday and was really happy with how it felt. It's basically the same as R-Types on psx with souped up graphics which actually look better than the original game rather than worse, unlike many other classic arcade ports. I'd had a go on an original R-Type cab when popping by super potato the day before so I had a fairly good point of reference for the gameplay, and it really felt the same to me, which is definitely a good thing.
Whilst I didn't get to try the 2p mode, there were some people on the machine next to me playing and it looked a lot of fun. They were playing level 3 of R-Type 1 with one guy who had a force orb going around the motherships ahead of the other player who didn't clearing off the gun turrets so he could grab a powerup... he died just before getting it
I'm really glad this is coming to XBLA and MS are not forcing some stupid bullshit DVD release so that we have to pay 7000yen plus for some fucking limited production and then have to insert the damn disc everytime to play. I honestly thing MS are incredibly stupid to force CAVE to release their games on disc because they don't even fill a tenth of a DVD and would make good downloadable and sell better at a fraction of the cost of the CDs. Not sure if Raiden 4 would have been allowed on XBLA, but I'd rather that was there too
Ketsui on DS was really nice too btw
Totally sold on that.

Nice, thanks for the impressions, I'm getting cautiously optimistic about this remake now. Did you happen to notice if the 3D mode ran at 30 or 60 frames per second?than wrote:I'd had a go on an original R-Type cab when popping by super potato the day before so I had a fairly good point of reference for the gameplay, and it really felt the same to me, which is definitely a good thing.

As consolation, I recall someone posted a few years ago about how well some of the modern PS1 emulators with plugins effectively enhance R-Type Delta's visuals on the PC (to HD resolutions, etc...)MJR wrote:bloodflowers wrote:It had better run at 60fps.

Sweet idea, but will probably never happen. Sorry.

Mr. Bloodflowers, you should have told me that you were talking about R-type Delta, not Delta!
