WOW Megaman 9 is REALLY well done!
I don't know why everyone is harping on it for being so hard. It's a megaman/rockman game. They are supposed to be challenging. And in the realm of this game's history, it really isn't that hard. I had a harder time with Megaman 3. I've only played a bit of this evening but I'm at Wiley's castle.

SiKrAiKeN: While I don't think everyone here -is- a Ninja Turtle, I DO believe everyone here has the potential to be a Ninja Turtle. No doubt.
It's the lack of rapid fire I think that is getting to me. There aren't any easily obtainable 360 rapid fire pads. I assume the case with Wii and PS3 is similar. I got way used to it when using NES pads and on Anniversary Collection. I never realized how much of a crutch that was for me. Your buster's way overpowered as long as you can rapidfire.
Obviously the people lucky enough to have Hori pads are laughing at me (if you're selling one PM me : p)

Yeah, I play it with the Classic Controller.
I have only played Mega Man 2, and I find this to be a good amount harder. Other than that, I have only played X and X 2, and this is much more infuriating.
The spikes and the instant deaths at every turn is almost what just made me put it down. But I persisted, and have made it a few stages in. But I totally understand the grief it gets about it's difficulty. I mean, I dunno what goes for challenging platformers around here(I guess I would consider Little Ralph to be tough, and the GNG games), but this frustrates me more than any I can THINK of offhand.
I know the masses aren't even used to something like this, and i'm sure this is making them cry. I shed a few myself, and I like a challenge!

Picked this up for the Wii the day it came out, thoroughly loved it, beat it in 2 days. Well worth the $ for me. I can see why people who aren't used to Mega Man games would find it difficult, but I don't think it's all that bad as far as games in this series go... Heh, I seem to remember some of the others being worse.
And if you find it frustratingly hard, you can always...
******POSSIBLE STRATEGY SPOILER WARNING***********
Go to any stage where lots of easy-to-kill enemies spawn near the entrance and farm screws, then go buy tons of health powerups and breeze through all the bosses. Or just buy as many as you need to make the game more fun. Your choice.

Ya know, at first I thought the same thing. However, I think rapid-fire would have limited usefulness here. The bosses, for instance, have an invincible recovery period where they can't be damaged. Wily 3rd Form, for instance, won't take damage from multiple Hornets before teleporting away. Same with the energy ball. I suppose it would be useful for tougher normal enemies, but there are relatively few of those...szycag wrote:It's the lack of rapid fire I think that is getting to me. I was screwing around with Megaman 5 & 6 via emulator. As it turns out there is either code in those games that minimizes Mega Buster damage during ultra-rapid fire...or the shots are coming out so fast they don't register as multiple hits.
Bah. Airman was a joke, even in JP original. ALl you need is full life. no dodging neeed.
Metalman, on the other hand, is actually a challenge on hard without his weakness. you cant' just rambo him and ignore the blades and come out ahead like you can on the us normal diffculty. you actually have to dodge them.
