It amazes me how some people complain about paying an extra $20/30 bucks to import a PS2 shmup but you go in their basement and these same people have 3k worth of Cave PCB's and other cabs perfectly preserved down there.
Like someone else said in some other thread, they are rarely the same people
But yeah, there's lots of silly whining here, especially about region locks etc.. you just got to deal with the situation
I can assure you the guys with arcade cabs and a PCB collection are not me.
THE, TF6, and Ketsui:DL all coming out within 2 months is more than I can afford. As a result, I will waiting a bit for a possible US announcement on TF6. If there isn't one, at least I'll be able to read reviews and prioritize my purchases.
Anyway, I'm not whining. I never said $60 was too much for TF6. I simply would rather pay $30 for a copy that doesn't require disc swapping if I have that option.
wow, they really increased the awesome since their last preview vid. (and the texture work too it seems.)
Seems they also took a note of SegaGaga and decided there should be a boss that forms from having shit combine into larger versions of old TF ships.

AFAIK = No, but Amazon JP is giving a free Mini Soundtrack away for the first preorders.
I would like to see all previous TF Games as unlockable features in TF6, or at least TF5.
Really? I didn't know Amazon.jp has this offer. Not only that, the Japanese online Sega Store is giving away the soundtrack demo PLUS a bonus concept databook if you order from them. Link: http://ebten.jp/sega/p/4974365832124/ I have asked vgmworld and they said they will be bringing some of these copies for order.
One of the best things about shootan gaems is that, unlike, say jRPGs (where you sometimes have hours and hours of boredom separating the good bits), you can get a quick overview of most stages except the last two or so, because I hope they didn't spoil us the final stages.
By the looks of all the videos and screenies, this game has variety.
Space, jungles, seas, high orbit, what seems to be an orbital platform/elevator, battling next to huge battleships approaching fast, a magma-cluttered place (so it's probably the inside of a volcano or some subterranean animism... I mean, madness), urban ambience, a destroyed city, cool mecha and ships... PEW PEW.
Iit seems TFVI comes quite action packed. So much scenery I assume this will take the Gradius V route, 45 mins / almost one hour to clear it?
God, I'm so broke at the moment but I'll try to get it sooner or later. Definitely waiting for this one.
NOW REACHES THE FATAL ATTRACTION BE DESCRIBED AS "HELLSINKER". DECIDE DESTINATION.

I think the video showed Federation, which is stage 4, and the newly seen Battleship, which is stage 5. Jungle, Flame and Ocean are the first three stages to be selected like TFV probably. I'm sure there's also a final stage 6 we haven't seen yet.

Let's hope there will be 7 stages at least, it would be insane if they did 10 stages , it would take a hour at least to beat the game then

The 2-page Famitsu article linked ages ago in this thread stated that the game would be 6 stages.
How about contacting Victor Ireland from the now defunct Working Designs which did the Thunderfoce V localization and ask him if he could do Thunderforce VI as well ?
The promotion Video is too amazing... first duel against Vasteel Nocth (large size) and the duel against giant RVR-01 ?? I hope there would be Thunder Force the Movie.
One of the TF VI`s stage are Federation`s City... doesn`t that mean that the battle take same place with stage 3 of TF IV ?

I was left with the understanding that Victor Ireland had parted on poor terms with Sony and the PlayStation family of consoles. In his parting words from Working Designs, he had mentioned that the Xbox 360 was the future - Contacting him regarding localizing Ketsui would seem more reasonable than localizing a PS2 game, considering he puts blame on Sony for his now defunct company's struggle.

I was not aware of this, I just love the Thunderfoce V port and thought if anyone could do justice to a Thunderfoce VI localization it would be working designs.
I heard on another forum pre-orders from Play-Asia were sold out....however when I checked they seemed to be still there. Anyone know for sure if its true?
I pre-ordered some time ago, but I've been steering other shmup fans that were not aware of TF6's upcoming release to PA and NCSX.

Negative, I just pre-ordered at Play-Asia
What more can I say I wouldn't be here today if the old school didn't pave the way.

I've just ordered it as well through Play Asia.
Now all I need is a Japanese PS2 / Modded console to actually play it...
-or, are there any decent PS2 emulators I can use for it??, I used to use PS1 emulators to play my old PS1 games before i tracked down a chipped console.

Get pcsx2, it's the only working PS2 emulator that supports quite a large number of games. Some games are entirely playable while some get stuck at in-game menu or intro screens or cutscenes. You can check the compatibility list at their website.
