recommendations?

Post by tommyb »

Anyone have any decent recommendations for me?

I've been pretty wrapped up in DoDonPachi, and I need a distraction game or two to just mess around with until Microsoft fixes my 360 and I can play Ikaruga and Triggerheart Exelica again.

And until I find the money to buy a Japanese PS2.

I recommend getting a white American-style ball cap a bit too big and paint lots of bullets on the inside brim. Environmentally friendly bullet eating!

In other news, I am told that Hudson's caravan style games are fun. You can play them for a little while and get bored after a near max score or you can play them a lot and maybe never get a decent score, but you'll never know unless you try!

Oh yeah - DoDonPachi - it's a different style of game that Toaplan used to make but I would check out their classics if you haven't done so. You'll feel more or less at home given the graphics alone. Try Batsugun for that almost-Cave style game that's part old style and part newer.

Blue Wish Resurrection Plus is so much fun.

Guwange is getting pretty rad too, the spirit system is kinda lost on me though.

I'll throw in the ever-expected Project Touhou suggestion (I suggest Imperishable Night and Mountain of Faith for beginners).

It's easier to provide recommendations if you say what systems you own.

Haha you're right. I have a Dreamcast, PC, MAME (of course), and a 360 which like I said is currently being repaired.

Oh and a PSX.

Psyvariar 2 is a load of fun. Triggerheart I have on my 360 and just waiting for Microsoft to ship it back because I got the damn red ring of death.

ESP Ra.de seems like a good distractor. Scoring system isn't anything ridiculous.

Triggerheart is a nice game, but whatever you do, don't choose the Arrange Mode! (If you have the Dreamcast version)

I will second Psyvariar 2. The Dreamcast version would be the easiest to find.

I will also suggest Trouble Witches (upgrade to the newest patch if you can find it).
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.
