Okay, I think that's a valid concern, then.

What part of the "banking" process are you confused about? I might be able to clarify it.

1) I don't care about understanding the scoring system before I get the game. I'm looking forward to gradually figuring it out as I play. That's the fun for me.

2) I don't want the soundtrack. I know that I will be hearing the music hundreds of times while playing the game over and over, so I definitely will not want to hear it on a CD during non-gaming moments.

3) I'm buying the game because I'm always pleased by Cave's games, not because of all the hype.

The soundtrack is obvious, pretty much everyone (including myself) bought it for the Reko figurine. It's really not very good imo, certainly nothing that approaches masterpieces such as Rayforce/Layer Section's OST or even Cave's earlier work in ESP.ra.de As to the popularity of the game and why we're all preordering it, it's a combination of Cave, lack of quality shmups since DC was officially discontinued (there's been too much crap imo, Border Down, that brutal Taito stag game, psyvariars, and on and on), beautiful artwork, and interesting gameplay videos.

Personally, I never picked up PS2 DDP even though I liked the artwork because I never enjoyed DDP on the SS or PSX. But I love ESP.ra.de and pick up anything that even looks like it, hence I picked up galuda and will be picking up Mushi.

I don't think we can call the people who find Reko attractive pedophiles. That drawing is not of a 15 year old girl. That's all woman. They could say it was a drawing of 3 year old male dog, that don't make it so.

I'm a fan of Nausicaa's Warriors of The Wind & Mushihimesama game reminds me alot of that. Similar theme & story.

I'll try to get it.

Any chance of it being ported to Europe (PAL)?

Part of it might be because after Arika and Cave parted ways people were wondering if any other Cave stuff might make it home...on that count it's pretty exciting news to hear Mushi's being ported.

That said, after hearing about the kind of job that Taito did on GWG, I haven't pre-ordered Mushi myself; I'll wait to hear how it is from people who have bought it once they get it, and then make my decision.

does that imply you don´t like Trizeal? Because then I´m surprised.
Yeah. It isn't the step up from XII Stag it was touted as. I think Stag was below average and Trizeal was just average. It's reminiscent of half a dozen games that are better.

It's not about Reko being cute, it's that Rob was implying all the talk about the Reko figurine's lack of an undergarment is boosting sales of the game and OST.

Personally I love the fact that this game is popular, great sales will convince Cave to port Ibara.

I can't think of any except Raiden DX which Trizeal reminds me of and DX is certianly better, IMO... Since I continue to play a ton of classics over more modern shooters, Trizeal feels like a breath of old air - without being completely derivitive. But if it's not your cup of tea, that's cool.

You don't have to love Trizeal, Rob, but it loves you.

Weapons system reminds me of Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie if it were crossed with Shienryu Explosion. Graphics were also very SE. Bullets/patterns made me think of mainly Psikyo, RayForce and Raiden. Scoring system felt straight out of a Raizing game. I don't like being reminded of better games, well, except for Shienryu Explosion.

That must be really embarrassing for Trizeal!

I wasn't interested in this game until I played ESP Galuda. Something about Galuda made the video I watched of it click and so I preordered it. I won't be buying any new games for a long time meow so hopefully the port is good.

Has Taito fucked up any other ports recently? Aside from GWG, which people were complaining about in the arcades, they published Shikigami and Stag and I don't remember anyone really griping about sloppy jobs on either of those.
Feedback will set you free.

Where'd ya learn that Cheech, drug school?

I dunno about Mushi. It seems like with the 3 different gameplay types, they're trying to make it appeal to everyone, rather than 1 game that appeals to a certain type of player, which 9 times out of 10 will be better. At the same time, it's getting all kinds of praise from people who've tried it...I've got it preordered at any rate, so it had better be good.

I suspect that the GWG port was a result of unfamiliarity about porting Type-X to the PS2. Mushi should probably come out fine.

You can't really say making manic a playable mode is to appeal to a different type of audience. DOJ and Ketsui both had this mode... you just had to stomp a lot of ass to get to it (at least in Ketsui's case).
I've got it preordered at any rate, so it had better be good.
The game itself is great (beautiful). I of course can't comment on the port, but we will see.

I'm excited about the initial score attack when it finally gets released, but I'm not sure if I like the actual look or feel of the game

In the video's I've seen the graphics look a wee bit messy (not the resolution, the palette) and the whole bug thing doesn't sit with me as well as the futuristic style of the Pachi's etc

Having said that, when do cave ever mess things up?

And I had these reservations about Galuda and that turned out great :D

The palette is very.....pastel. Probably not going to look good in videos unfortunately.

Could be, but I'm still wary...owning the DonPachi Saturn port might be another thing making me a bit nervous about it. In any case, if it DOES turn out will, I'll probably pick it up...I'd just rather hear from others first, before blowing my 60 bucks plus shipping.

I think it might be that Type X hardware just isn't very good. It reminds me G.Net, which was lackluster and didn't port well to consoles.

RayCrisis which was released on the G-Net had a very good PS-1 port.
Only thing missing was 2P support.

Well that's not the port's (or the hardware's) fault, heh.

It is the hardware's fault, it was all about incorprating 3D, which led to the creation of crap games.

One could argue that the real problem lies with the "3D is always better" mindset, and the hardware was just an offspring of that. But either way it is what it is, heh. ;)

RayCrisis does not suck. It was avery good port from the arcades. Graphically, sound & gameplay with no slow downs. Only thing it lacked was a 2Player option.

Now if you don't like it as a game compared to RayForce & RayStorm, thats a different story.

Mush

Post by DEL »

At the risk of getting back on topic...

I agree with Herr Schatten that Mush has a lot to offer with 3 modes and perhaps an arrange mode. I also agree with him that the game has a nice smooth 'flow'. Although I disagree with Herr Schatten's comment about Original and Maniac Modes being of a similar skill level - Maniac Mode is harder to ALL, but definitely easier than DDP DOJ.

With reference to the upcoming Port;
As long as the port is of DDP DOJ PS2 quality, there will be no problems.

I'm not a Cave Dweller, I tend to treat each game on its individual merits, but I've got to say that Cave have produced an easily accessible game and smoothed out the quibbles I had with the 'too delicate' DOJ chaining system.

The game can easily appeal to people who play simply for fun and also to the score-hungry.

Didn't the ports of both DOJ and ESPGaluda turn out well? Is everyone really so worried about this?

On another note, i figured this is pretty premature, but Ibara will probably get a PS2 port, right?

That's because a different company (who Cave is no longer affiliated with) did those ports. I'm not saying that Taito is incapable of doing good ports (Shiki 2, for one, turned out quite well), but after GWG I'd rather wait for impressions, just to be sure. I'm definitely hoping that the thing turns out well, since I like a lot of Cave's stuff.

The port is being done by Cave, not Taito.
