Post by D »

Link

I guess either beware (they seem illegal) or let's feast if they are original.
I wonder how good they are even if they are boots. Maybe somebody will risk it an let us know. They work on pc and ps3, but only with ps1 and ps3 games, not for ps2 games, cause you need the PS button to registre the controller.

If this proves to be any good I´m buying one. Unfortunately I don´t have the money just lying around like that to make that deal (I usually avoid eBay for this very bootleg stuff reason), but please be good bootlegs. It´s a crying shame the original ones are so hard to get.

EDIT: I just wanted to order one, it would have been around 6€ plus another 6€ for shipping (taking two weeks, dear god), but they only accept PayPal, and I can´t be arsed to set up an account just for this. :?

i like that the ebay netherlands page has the word "Winkels" right up there at the top.

Third Party Controller

Original Design, works like the official controllers, but without the higher cost.
seems like bootleg , but I guess you could still use it's pcb with an oldschool saturn pad if the buttons feel crappy

Does this mean a real sega usb will work with the ps3? cause if so I'm all over it. VF5 will feel much much better.

Glad I got my original grey one when it was about this price. I've used it for 3s ggpo almost every day these past few weeks.

Interesting. I think I'll buy one anyway... even if it's crap I can hopefully swap the shell for my real saturn pad, because those ones look awesome.

If these are up to par with the originals, I'm buying 3 of them right away. Yes, that's how much I love my Sega USB controller.

Why Sega stopped making them altogether is beyond me.

Anyone who does grab these pads, please post your thoughts upon further use and analysis. If the results are favourable (even with need of swap to original shells) I'll probably grab a couple myself so, feedback is appreciated.

Jockel ordered two for both of us, so I´ll post impressions ASAP. Might take a while because of the shipping and all, but it´s going to happen :)

I'm going with bootleg. Although they look really good, I already have a Saturn USB pad which I never use. If only they were PS2..

I don´t have much experience in the bootleg business, but I doubt they´ll make barely functional pads since those items aren´t exactly mainstream rip-off things like the Chintendo Vii. I mean, if they are bad, chances are the word spreads in shmups and beat-em-up forums fast enough, so they´ll make much more money if they are actually usable.

I can post some impressions and pics too when my one arrives, might be a little later than Jockel since he sends me the second one of a double deal; I´ll see if I´ll take it apart. Probably not, though

Fake or not, they're well worth the price. I guess there's going to be a few people out there buying PS3s now that they can use these controllers with them. Kind of a kick in the balls since it won't work with the 360, which has USB ports, and is getting all the shmups.

Well, duh. But people are forced to use the 360's dpad. Their alternatives are.. the Hori one, I suppose. Which I've heard isn't so good. But that's it, there's nothing else. At least there's 3 or 4 different sticks for people to choose from.

Thanks for posting that thread, Elixir.

Nice to read that they appear to be really good. Sega is stupid for not selling the real ones anymore.

By the way - since many electronic devices are being made in China anyways, how high are the chances of these thingies here actually coming from the same factory?

Heh...the bootlegs fix the only problem I ever had with the original pads...the annoying bumpers. Well...I don't like the multiple button sizes, but meh.

very! A lot of the factories do this or its a neighboring of the factory. Clothing bootlegs are often made just across the road from the real factories.
