The House of the Dead: Overkill
Sweet trailer.
Where's all the buzz!?
Rail shooters are proliferating on the Wii. A couple more original games worth the cash and I'll have to plunk down the greens for a Weeeeeeee.

"Sooo, what was it that you consider a 'good salary' for a man to make?"

Man, that was so cheesy it's actually good.
Pure unadulterated zombie action with pole dancing? On the Wii? Hell yeah.
As a final note of silliness, this comment made me laugh:

That's probably the prelude to the waves of "it only has five stages" and "you can beat it in 30 mins".My only reservation is this game HAS to have more content than just an arcade shooter.

NOW REACHES THE FATAL ATTRACTION BE DESCRIBED AS "HELLSINKER". DECIDE DESTINATION.
I'm still trying to 1cc Ghost Squad dual-wielding.Observer wrote:Man, that was so cheesy it's actually good.

Well, your "feeling" is obviously wrong. You shouldn't trust your feelings too much when it comes to games
"The grindhouse feel comes across in a number of areas. First of all, you'll notice the look of the game as you play it. We use tricks like filters and scratches to make it look like you're watching a film that's been watched over and over and really abused. There's also specific color styles you can employ to recreate that distinctive look -- for example, because of the way that celluloid degrades, blacks turn a greenish color. That's why in Overkill's outside levels at night you'll notice this green tinge in the sky, a sort of sickly light. The washed out colours further add to the effect.
Secondly, it's the gore."
From the interview with the devs.

IGN gave the game an 8.3! The shooting action looks fantastic. I don't understand why this was rated M partly for sexual content, as I don't see any (I don't own the game) other then the fact that one of the characters is a stripper.

Because we can't let our poor, innocent Amerikun kids have the images of carnage, evisceration, blood splattering, gun play and suffering of the undead blocked by the notion of a woman who likes to show off her well-formed body to appease some of the most basic human instincts, hee-haw, dyup dyup, whoa! To think otherwise is to be nothing but a french homosexual commie bible-burner, yee-haw, pardner!dave4shmups wrote:IGN gave the game an 8.3! The shooting action looks fantastic. Makes you wonder how the USA-based ESRB will be rating this Wii game when it finally comes out. ^_~MX7 wrote:Looks like it's out in the UK. Surprised to see it get an '18' cert, I guess it's because of that special blend of sex and violence that always gets the BBFC twitching
I do recall that Rockstar's Max Payne GBA port got an "M" rating from the ESRB back in the day. Most USA retailers refused to stock/carry it anyways.

lol, In all seriousness, I want to know how much sexual content there is, because, as a follower of Christ, sexual content bothers me a lot more because I'm more tempted by it. If just play a shooter, then I'm not tempted to blow anyone's head off.Specineff wrote:Because we can't let our poor, innocent Amerikun kids have the images of carnage, evisceration, blood splattering, gun play and suffering of the undead blocked by the notion of a woman who likes to show off her well-formed body to appease some of the most basic human instincts, hee-haw, dyup dyup, whoa! So that's why I'd really like to know, and IGN's review was silent on that.

That's exactly what I was thinking. They could have prefixed this with "Grindhouse:".Specineff wrote:Gotta love the grindhouse-style trailer. I hope it delivers.
I just wish it wasn't for the Wii. I can't stand the low resolution. I was so excited a year ago to finally get my hands on a Wii. I tried hard to get past the fuzzy look on my TV and in the end gave up on it. Now the thing sits and collects dust next to the 360 and PS3.
I've never been one for graphics over gameplay, but I hate fuzzy pictures.

I wonder how they managed to make a game in 2008 that doesn't look any better than its predecessor and doesn't run as smooth at what seems like 30fps. Even light gun games on the PS2 managed to run at a silky smooth 60fps with absolutely no sudden pauses while playing.
HotD4 port please.

According to the IGN review I read, the content is borderline AO and there's a character that constantly spouts out the f-word. http://wii.ign.com/articles/951/951652p1.html
