For full details of what the patch does: http://www.success-corp.co.jp/software/ ... 080821.pdf

Here's what I can make out from those Japanese words:
- Movement controls are now more precise.
- Music and sounds are fixed and should be in their proper places.
- Patched loading/saving indications.
- Patched options in Pause menu.
- Added Score Attack mode for all 3 games.
- Added Full Run mode for RFJ.

There's a lot of other fixed/improved/added stuff in the patch, anyone can translate it all?

Before the patch the game crashed quite often also the music and soundfx where out of sync frequently. Since I downloaded the patch I haven't noticed any crashes or bugs.

Is it really that fucking difficult to order a Japanese 360 if you want the game? Why bitch about it when you can do something about it instead?

People seem to be forgetting that these games are MAMEable.. back to MAME you go.

Especially since you can get a premium first generation NTSC/J 360 for $205 in places. Sure, the odds of failure are higher, but if you are going to be using it for shmups... lets face it, it's not overloading the CPU. You are likely going to have happy shmupping for quite a while.

I got a NTSC-J premium console boxed on ebay with a drive that "sometimes sticks", no RROD though for $56 shipped. I found a way around the issue and now have my unit for less than the price of a game lol

No, total gametime won't be reset by this patch.

The extra scanline options are really great with alot of different settings.
I wish more games would include these options :D

NOOOOOOO!!!!!

Those bastards reseted the online leaderboards!

I had an All and was on rank 23 (all ships) and rank 6 or 7 (Beast Arrow) on RF1 with 39 millions.
And on RFJ I had something over 80 millions.

Oh I hate, hate, HATE them!

Anyway which scanline mode do you think looks best?
I'm playing on a tated 21" VGA screen and I have now played it on x3 sharp setting. Toned done the bias to 40% though.

Sucks about the leaderboards. At least the game has had a ton of updates; I was finally able to pick this up, so I will be able to play in about two weeks or so. It takes a while for games to make their way over the pond, unfortunately.

x3 (Soft) with increased bias (65%). Screen is 720p (Yoko).

The new options are nice though I have no idea what those color options should be good for (or is anyone playing in negative colors?)

I got it coming (probably) tomorrow. My 360 is hooked up to a 58" 1080p HD set (since I don't have any low res games for it...yet). Anyone have any idea on what the best display settings would be to get this looking close to accurate.

(if it can look and play decent, it will nice to have it on a large screen anyway...no bullet squinting =p)

Woah, the update definitely added some fun things to mess around with screen settings. Was the screen color option always there or is it new? Old projector is oldskool, haha.

I gotta give Success credit, despite the game not selling that well, they're putting a lot of effort into improving the game. They really have a lot of love for shooters!

I'm sure it's gulti (ex-seibu members) who are putting the real effort in.

On my 720p plasma I've stuck with "2 X Scanline" at 640x480 dot by dot as it suggests. Decreasing bias ruins the scanlines so I upped brightness 4%. Nearest Neighbor of course (ie no filter). Huge improvement, thanks Seibu/Gulty/Success/Whoever.

Yeah it's really a big improvement. Looks really great now!

I sure hope future releases of SD shmups (DDP, Ketsui, Death Smiles) will also feature scanline options :)

wait... so they added a scanline option in the display settings with the update?!
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Yep, there are a bunch more display options to toy around with, scanlines included - it's got to be one of the most "tweakable" shmup releases ever after these updates.
