Since it's been a week, which is a sure sign of "something not promising", i've registered and set up a site on:
http://killercabs.org
http://killercabs.net
I'm currently enjoying a bottle of red, and setting up forums. If it's not working in your browser, it's because DNS is not updated yet.
Should be up this evening.
I will 100% for sure need help if this is going to fly, as the stuff I know is infrastructure - not running forums.

Nice one Zim. I reckon we should all have a meet-up somewhere when everything gets sorted. Go to Trocadero for beers and games, unless someone's up for hosting something at their cab filled mansion?
I'm enjoying a few bottles of Stella and a big bag of quality bud whilst contemplating if Last Blade 2 really is better than the original. Also, why the hell isn't Bionic Commando: Rearmed out on the UK PlayStation Network?

Who cares, it was not registered.Lordstar wrote:is using the killercabs name such a good idea since its kinda belongs to tone?prrole wrote:Ok, everything should be more or less up now:

Point here, IMO, is that "killercabs" is bigger than "tone", "lordstar", "invzim" or whoever has the domain registration.
If you leave a very active forum blank with a 404 message for a week, you have pretty much spelled it out that you aren't going to be doing anything with it. A simple "technical issues, working on it, will be back in XX days" would be sufficient.
My motivation is simply that I have the means, and miss killercabs.
your right!
"killercabs" is bigger than "tone", "lordstar", "invzim" or whoever has the domain registration
but whoever has the domain get a large chunk of control. you have a pm anyway.

Am i the only person with any communication with Tone then?..
to anyone who doesn't know me.. I'm the guy at KC that didn't do much..
Hello SMHUPSSSSSSSTERS!
ps grant relayed your messages wanna trade bf with £££ for something
I'm not even a member of KC, but what's the story here? When 2dgaming.net went down temporarily due to a server problem, I immediately set up a replacement forum to keep everyone informed. That's how it should be done.
You don't just go offline without a word; especially if a large community relies on you. Bad show.

Wot he said. I miss having a good library of tech information in one place - often problems I encounter with owning cabs/PCBs/whatever have happened before and I just need to do a forum search to discover the answer...Flazh wrote:Shmups and WPG are all well and good, but I always liked the cab orientation of KC.
I've had a few pms so I'll just reply here.
Lets stop farting about guys, if I pay for some hosting and figure out how to transfer the arcadeotaku domain could you set up phpbb zim/xenepp and we can take it from there?
I'd certainly feel uneasy about using the name killercabs and leeching cached information.

Yeah, enough with the f'in PMs - if someone is scheming something grand - let's hear it. I registered the .org/.net, and only then was something surfacing - but I still don't know who or what, apart from that grantspain wants to be a part of it, and thought the new forum would hurt the cause - whatever that is.
Superpang: I'm up for it, and no need to pay for hosting.
I don't want to set up something that competes with another site, but involving a lot of people, making a whole big "political" structure, and it taking a long time to set up is imho not a good idea.
A forum with a simple accompanying site about arcade cabinets and their insides is, and this is the big part, NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!
What I miss is:
a) Something simple that loads in a couple of seconds
b) Something with archive quality
c) something that can be transfered in minutes in case of personal and or technical outage

Thanks for the hosting offer zim but I would like to keep this on its own host to avoid any future unforseen problems. I'm happy to pay for year one and stick it on my credit card and accept donations when were up and running.
I'm keen to get this going but don't want to do it and find Tone restores KC in a few days.

Well I'm happy to donate something. I had no idea hosting was as expensive.SuperPang wrote:Thanks for the hosting offer zim but I would like to keep this on its own host to avoid any future unforseen problems. IMO a new name, new start could be a god thing.

For how long? Do you know something we don't?kernow wrote:I'd say just hold fire .
I'm getting the impression that it's not coming back online. Don;t get me wrong this is all second hand, but from what I understand Gianni is the only one in contact wth Tone & he hasn't heard anything about it getting restored (or not for that matter)
As people have said, a holding message via another forum, KC or even Gianni would suffice, but there isn't one.
To put it in KC terms, the method I used is like buying an Egret 29 and importing it from Japan, instead of using a slightly knackered woody from EbaySuperPang wrote:Hosting isn't expensive unless you do it bloodflowers way
