Games that help with memory....

Post by dave4shmups »

Some of the meds that I'm on for my anxiety do cause occasional brain farts. So I'm wondering what games actually help with memory. In particular, I wonder about the Brain Age series, on the DS. Guitar Hero seems to be, at one level, a memory game, because you have to remember where the different colors are on the guitar.

Actually with Guitar Hero it's more a case of the position of your hand instead of memorizing where's each color.

If you try to play the game blindly, then I am sure it will become a very strong test to your memory :D

Memorizing my way through Ikaruga felt like it helped to some extent, I think. Most memorizer-shmups probably will.

Last Hope

Seriously though, you could try some shmups that are heavy on pattern memorisation, if you don't already.

gogo pseudoscientific mumbo-jumbo! You can train yourself to take I.Q. tests better, and you can train yourself to play memorizers better.

Brain fog is something you adjust to by simplifying your environment and your ambitions. You can't get a handle on it by trying harder, as you should know by now.

There's better ways to improve your memory, you know. Like learning something.

I´d rather try to work on your anxiety problems so that one day you can drop the meds, which would solve the initial problem.

In everyday life I find mnemonics quite helpful:

I use mental images to quickly memorize names or similar things.

Hopefully one day I will not need any meds. Thanks for the link! I've heard that crossword puzzles help. Red Green said "Crossword puzzles don't prevent memory losss, they confirm it.".   OT, I love that show!
