Can I copy my DC games?

Post by Pedro Lambrini »

Hey folks!

I've been playing my DC shmups quite a bit recently. The problem I have is that I really want to keep them in perfect condition and don't really want to handle them too much! I'm not asking you to tell me how to find pirates or anything I just want to copy the games I already own - in particular Border Down, Trizeal and SNS II as these games are the most valuable to me!

Thanks in advance :)

BTW: would these copies play in a Treamcast at all? I just got one and I love it to bits!

Copying them yourself is technically possible, but not easy, as your PC can't read them properly and even if, the games wouldn't fit on CD-R. If you really want a "backup", the only option is to search for a pirated version, I'm afraid.
...and suddenly, a very freaky wormhole opened, and 4 3-foot tall market analysts fell out...

you would need a coder's cable to link your DC and PC.

Ripping a GD-ROM disc takes a while though, becuase you have to transfer the entire contents over a serial connection.

Yeah, you're better off downloading them. They're easy to find if you use bittorrent.

I'll try dl'ing them then and see what happens...I've tried in the past but my DC seemed to have probs recognising the discs :(

How come I can't rip the games and then burn them onto cds but I can dl pirates and burn them onto cds?

Find someone on the net who sells "back-ups". That would be your best bet. Chances are you'll get them pretty cheap. I used to get back-ups for $3 each, but that was like 2 years ago. I felt the same way you do. I got Ikaruga, Border Down, SNS II, Gunbird 2, Mars Matrix and Giga Wing 2 back-ups, so I wouldn't have to risk my original copies getting scratched up. And they all play perfectly to this day.
