Battle of Destiny + Street Fighter 4

Post by Skykid »

Did anyone go on the weekend just gone?

It was awesome!

Street Fighter 4 was an interesting play. I think I quite like it actually, it turned out to be better than I expected.

I did not. I am more excited about Capcom vs Animehouse majigger. Not to say im not excited about SF4 I think thats going to be a big game in the future like SF3 it will be a slow starter but have a lot of hardcore fans. Or reignite the arcade scene again i dunno  ROTFL

suprised how low down people like ryan hart and harmonaz finished (3.3). who's this privateryan dude? london regular?

the vids on youtube currently are absolutely shocking quality at the moment :?

Wong destroyed Sinisty, and search those vids again - the BoD crew have put their own vids up. Ryan beating Wong was the finest moment of all.

I'll link up my report when it appears on EG.net.

PrivateRyan is a London Arcade regular as you say. Tall guy, most famous for his Legend of Dragon videos, featuring our local Shaolin expert 'Dragon' who's....well - "A Special Guy  "

Justin Wong was very impressive.
Ex_Mosquito did very well.

I must correct an earlier mistake; Ryan Hart didn't get beaten by a 14yr old, he got beaten by the 14yr old's brother.

any vids of the event where they show more than just the screen of the game being played?

what kind of setups did they have?

They should put some video up soon - try visiting battleofdestiny.com to see if they've updated anything there.

This was an awesome day, great atmosphere, nice crowd, and really encouraging.

Shame it stank to high-hell of our sweating armpits in the unusually hot UK sun.

And shame I twanged my ankle skating on Saturday night and missed day two, which I spent limping and moaning to Mrs. Spadgy.

I was there and as Del said it was great to watch Justin Wong in action.

Only complaint was they forgot to put on the aircon at the event.

Ah. It's a shame I didn't create a pre-BoD thread, that way perhaps we could've met up and said hello. It seems there were a few shmups guys there after all.

Tell me about the game..... I'm very excited for it. I love SSF2T and 3rd strike but didn't fancy parrys to much. So I'm sold on this so far.

It's more of a return to SF2 than anything - you can see it in the overall design. The complexity of things has been toned down - no more parries etc. The new stuff is simple and easy to execute, but has plenty of potential depth.

It plays like Street Fighter, but the 3D'ness is the big factor: jumping and weight takes some getting used to, as does the range (some attacks seem like they should meet, but don't.)

In all, it's very easy to get into. Whether or not it will last as long as 3rd strike in the arcade I dunno, but on home console it'll be a storm.

Anyway, SF always goes through countless updates before reaching the pinnacle (bar Zero 3) so there's bound to be good stuff in store in future.

did ryu have half circle forward+kick move, the mule kick he got in 3? how did it look it person as far as qrafix?

Didn't play as Ryu, so not sure. The graphics are...well, they have character, but in an ugly way - if that makes sense.

There's some interesting stuff like the revenge bar, which builds up depending on the amount of blocked hits. When your super bar is full and the revenge gauge is also full, you can let rip with an ultra combo (not like killer instinct - but similar I suppose) which does mega damage.

Nope, the Joudan Sokutou Geri has been removed. Shame that, I liked that move.

I'm definitely up for a 360 copy of this. With a decent stick, it'll be lots of fun.

Release date please Capcom.

'Specially since it's about the only "new" move ("supered" versions of his old ones don't count) that he's gotten since...what, the F+MP and F+MK command moves in SF Alpha, if you're really generous? :P
