My collection - please read Disclaimer!

Post by Skykid »

DISCLAIMER: PLEASE READ

This thread contains pictures of my video games collection. I didn't buy all this recently, it's approx. fourteen years worth of stuff, and the majority is now in storage.
As it's not related to shmups, I've placed it in the 'off topic' section. If you do not wish to see this thread, or it makes you angry, please feel free to click the back button on your browser now. I have no intention of upsetting anyone by posting here - it's just for fun, and has been continued at the request of a few forum members. Please feel free to post your own collections - this isn't a competition, I'm always interested to see the oddities and rarities of others.
This thread is not a personal blog, and therefore will not receive continuous unnecessary bumps. It may, however, receive odd updates now and then if there's something I think is worth adding. In the event you see an update, but still don't wish to view the thread, please continue to participate in the other off-topic threads and ignore this one entirely.
By the way, my penis is huge. Thanks.

I agree.

Zinger should have said: Please.

(and ditch the banana girl request - those requests ought to be handled via PM! Bad zinger! ;) ) :P

very nice eyecandy.
There's a lot of stuff to explore in some angles, therefore it's even more beautiful that any kind of stuff is mixed up and splattered around in all corners of the room.

I don't know if photobucket allows this, but have you considered to post pics here in their thumbnail form? it would be easier to load and of course everyone who's interested would click pics to enlarge them. :)

Basically it's a PS2 neo stick that's identical in build and components to the original, bar tiny L & R buttons on either side of the main four (which never get used anyway.)

Very sweet if you're into SNK fighters but don't buy AES.

Thats pretty crazy...I can understand why some people may be upset by that kind of collection.

Thankfully emulators are getting better everyday so we don't have to compete with people like you to be able to play these great games. Hopefully one day most of the old games will be public domain and everyone will be able to enjoy these games exactly as they were on the original hardware without having to pay big bucks.

I do have one question though, if these games would all be unplayable (like it will be the case many years from now) would you still keep them simply as "relics"?

I don't think the games becoming public domain has anything to do with it. It's more a matter of whenever people get around to emulating them correctly.

It's a sick collection, though I'm a little disappointed that you have the easy version of Elemental Gearbolt. :3

Wondermega: Nice console, but if you've ever owned a MCD or the like, there's bugger all to play on it. Apart from Snatcher & popful mail, sonic CD if you're really up for it - it's a machine devoid of quality titles. The MD part gets more use I reckon.

Why would they become unplayable. Is there something I don't know about?!

That's a great price Strider - I'd pay at least another $40 on that at the mo.

Yeah, I was very happy with that price, true it shows some signs of wear on the book and cart but nothing awful esp at 90.00.

All the ones I found before were around 200.00.

$200?! It's not that much dude - more around the £60-70 mark on YHJ these days.

Skykid, I got my first supergun in Dec 07, so I've been buying/playing PCBs for the same amount of time. I don't have room to keep everything, but I've had or still have so many of the same titles. The one you have that I most want to get eventually: Progear. Probably my favorite hori after R-Type (which I have).

So I want to ask you: How do you feel about your Saturn collection now that you've started collecting PCBs? Once I got a good set-up for PCBs and emulation, I started looking at my Saturn collection very differently. As you know, the vast majority of the shooters are ports from the arcade. I strongly prefer the PCB when I can afford it/find it, and emulation is just fine for the rest. I've kept a few games for the Saturn, but I just can't get excited any longer about a collection of ports. Do you feel the same way or do you still have a love for that part of your collection (if you ever did)? The Saturn was my first import system and I got it just for shooters, so I will always have a certain nostalgia, but it has really faded.

Storage media all degrade. Proper storage and handling can slow the process, but eventually the physical compenents begin to age and break down.

I don't know about carts, but I've seen figures of ~50 years for CDs though it's said that due to changes in technology that number isn't constant for every specific disc. Frankly, you probably won't have to worry about it in your lifetime, assuming your passion for video games lasts that long.

i know exactly how you feel - i'd practically forgotten i had a saturn :? to the point where i'm now more accustomed to playing silvergun with 3 buttons (which isn't comfortable). the last saturn game i got was from GP about six months ago and i haven't even loaded it up

nice to see the collection back up dude. i actually wish i'd taken the time to chronicle my collection over the years.

now sell me that DOJ poster before it bio-degrades! time is short!
