GW is a variable. The railroad stage could also be stage 2.

-Zen-ichi Stage 3
-Varth Stage 15
-Batsugun Stage 4, Stage 4 Boss (is a giant train called Jupiter)
-Dimahoo Stage 5 (I could have sworn there's like twenty really big trains in that level... it's so long a stage though, I may have forgotten)
-GigaWing Railroad Stage
-ESP Ra.De Stage 4 (Wangan Subway Line)
-Gunbird USA Stage

At least trains in shmups tend to turn up on time. Well, unless you blow them up.

How could no one mention Robo Aleste yet? There's a long train in that one. There's also a train boss in Steel Empire, and I believe there's a train in P-47 - The Phantom Fighter too.

My three-year old son loves trains (like most three-year old boys nowadays I suspect, in the age of Thomas) ... and every time I play through a stage where I'm shooting at trains, he shouts, "don't hurt the trains daddy!!"

The trains in Ikaruga (stage 1) always looked a bit wierd to me. Then again, the whole game looks pretty "alien" to us all, especially at first glance. Pretty neat designs, though.

I love the snow area stage in Zero Gunner 2. That train mini boss is a really cool experience. Nothing too fancy, but lots of firepower.

In Under Defeat's last two stages, there are some nice armoured trains that you can blow up. And the effects are really nice from the angle you're at, especially in the snow stage. Simply beautiful.

Yeah, they should. We can delete the "Strategy" subsection to make room for "Lists of Things." Everyone will be able to participate in that.

There is more than one way to enjoy shmups. If someone likes the genre for the trains alone, so be it.

Gun Frontier also has plenty of trains, especially in stage 5, e.g. a train hidden under the "Garegga bird tree" and three trains carrying gold ingots, which have to be triggered by unsealing the 3 metal coffins located after the factory.

Wait, isn't Jupiter a huge floating battle cruiser? Or did I just fall for a trap :(
