I believe I've covered this briefly in my bio, but alright...

'Minzoku Bokumetsu' is the closest equivalent in Japanese to the username I originally used, Jen Aside, way back in the days of BBSing and Legend of the Red Dragon and TradeWars 2002whatevernumber and Barren Realms Elite and so on. It's a pretty recent adoption--I started using it after hooking up with Kiken, just because it 'felt' better. I pretty much only use Jen on LiveJournal now, just because I already made a separate minzoku journal specifically for games, and I don't know what to use instead if I decided to change it... it's a fairly low-number account, so I like to keep it around for the prestige. :)

Kiken is probably the only one who knows how to write it correctly... :P I don't spell it as "race [minzoku] eradication [bokumetsu]".

Not me :)

Well, there was that time we tried out Karaoke Revolution as a group, but I safely fear it now. ;)

I've had friends who took a couple of years to realize what mine meant  Guess they don't say it aloud very often, being primarily Internet buddies... :?

'Accutron' is a brand of wristwatches manufactured by Bulova from 1960-1977, which kept time using a tiny tuning fork, vibrating at 360 Hz. Accutrons were vastly more accurate than mechanical wristwatches (to within a minute a month rather than a minute a day). The significance is that my grandparents owned a jewelry store for about 45 years, and sold that particular line of watches. My grandfather was a big fan of them. I started using the name on Palace Chat in 1998, and I've used it ever since. The name suggests mechanical precision, so that works well with the whole shmup thing.

The only other nick I've ever used is torso_killer in Unreal and Q3 multi, which I got from this media-hyped murder where they found a woman's various parts stuffed in trashbags and scattered about in roadside ditches not far from where I grew up in Ohio. The first part they recovered was the torso, so the local news dubbed him the Torso Killer. I was about 19 at the time, so of course my (future) wife and myself went for a drive, cadaver-hunting on the roads where they had already found some of the woman's appendages.

I was a big Final Fantasy fan back in the glory days of the SNES. I always thought the last guy from FF2, Zeromus, was pretty damn cool. So when I started posting at internet messageboards and such, I used Neo_Zeromus.Eventually time managed to shorten it down to nZero! Although it's not very tempting to shorten it further, since if I go to nz it'll look like I took up one of those elitest 2-letter "scene" nicks

my nick

Post by captain ahar »

when i first signed up for the forums (a year ago i think), i was going to use roem_baaba (the name i often use, and also the name of the king of the goblins). however, i realized i am rather tired of it, and captain ahar is the first thing that came to mind (my name is Austin Harriger). it is just a funny coincidence that my nick is a letter away from that fanatic of a captain from Moby Dick.

NOTE: Magnum Opus is the name of a comic shop here in Grand Rapids, MI
I have no sig whatsoever.

Some girl called me an 'arrogant bastard' when we were both 'dating' at that time, and it stuck to me because I liked the sound of it. This was way before I found out that there was a beer called Arrogant Bastard.

Kakizaki is a character from SDF Macross (Ben in Robocrap) -- I am a huge fan of Macross and I find Kakizaki to be a humorous dunce. I was tired of my old name Zaku02.

I chose mine from a robot in Virtual On Oratorio Tangram for Dreamcast. Specineff is a reaper-like robot with a very cool beam-launching scythe and wicked moves. And I'm just as thin and creepy as he is. :D

I had a problem choosing my name for this forum because I've been havina screen name identity crisis lately, so I stuck with my old Counter Strike name Acid King, taken from the band Acid King (http://www.acidking.com)who took their name from a murderer named Ricky Kasso. I also use CK Hate sometimes, after the parody shirt I made of Calvin Klein, and Blast Pundit for my blog.

When I finally get off my ass and start producing music, in some shape or effin' form, I'll release it under my current alias.

Growing up I grew sort of fond of sunrises/sunsets and the like, most of my time listening to music was sitting by the window looking out....so I guess that's sort of an origin...my only regret is that I'm confused for a woman a lot on various IRC channels. ._.

Mine just came to me in a moment of clarity/lunacy (I'm not sure which). There are few finer sights in gaming than a craft 'dancing' through bullet patterns, especially when there is an easier route possible :) I'm very very far from managing this myself (PlasmaStumbler at this stage, perhaps), but one day I too shall dance through the plasma *cue inspirational shmup intro music*.

Shaper = Lord Shaper a.k.a. Dream from The Sandman comics

When I started my quests on the internet many years ago I went by Shaper alone. Then I went to a forum which had a Shaper, so I added my semi initials Matt Chris Williamson. Or you can call me a master of ceromonies.

I didn't get my own PC and internet access until '99, and at the time I was re-playing through Chrono Trigger. I had recently found the joy of obliterating huge groups of enemies with Omega Flare (guess I missed it on my first few play-throughs), so I picked it for my AIM screen name, which was the first thing I downloaded. The "X" was added to make it acronym-friendly and because adding X to anything is an automatic +10 cool points. Yeah.

Most of these explanations are pretty interesting. Keep 'em coming.

The two of us, bro.
I'll be the third.

My nickname was originally Alluro95. The 95 came from the year I graduated high school. Alluro is a villain in ThunderCats introduced at season 3. I've gone by this nick since 1997. I eventually dropped the "95" and have gone by Alluro since.
The age of Alluro and JudgeSpear is over.

A cool horizontal Shmup by Jaleco (1989) it was released for the AMIGA/Arcade & PCE. Gameplaywise its very similar to R-Type. The AMIGA version has the best music.

Thank goodness since its name is spelled Prophallus to go with the phallic reference introduced by Dark Phallus (AKA Dark Falz and Dark Force in the US). Strange the censors didn't pick that up.

Anyway, my username refers to Boseru, the primary villain in every Langrisser title (and not the classic traitor from the legend of Roland). In the US Warsong (Langrisser I) translated by Treco, Boseru was renamed Ganelon.

Used to go by Shinryu on Usenet/BBS/forums due to my interest in FFV and dragons but the name wasn't saved when I first registered for GameFAQs so months later, it was somehow taken and I needed another username. Boseru has been one of my favorite villains but his name sounded weak in English so the renamed Ganelon it was.

Don't know why I never posted in this one...

Okay, mine's kinda lame. In the 9th grade, my best friend and I had a minor fallout, and he started calling me "Fro" because my hair sticks straight up. Yeah, I'm a geeky white guy, but I comb my hair to stick straight up just to be different. Anyway, the shape that the lady who was cutting my hair in made it look slightly afro-like, so he came up with "Fro" as a sort of insult. I hated it at first, but when we settled our dispute and became friends again, the name just sort of stuck. I've been FRO ever since. Some other boards have a "FRO" already, so in many of them I choose MetalFRO due to my love for heavy metal and hard music. Told ya it was lame!

For those who have been a part of the forums for several years, does anyone know if 'Romel' got his nickname from the Strikers 1945 II boss, or am I just stretching on that one?

My government name is Steve Viglio and I just took WWE wrestler Shane Mcmahon's nickname (Shane O Mac) and switched it up. People sometimes tend to think I took it from Steve-O of Jackass/Wildboyz fame.

And someone catches it. For once. One too many condom jokes made me make a slight alteration there.
