metal slug collection to the PC?... well, we already have them all (but 6, and 7 that is actually DS exclusive) on MAME... so why bother? The Coop wrote:Interesting.
I noticed that these guys are also bringing the Metal Slug collection to the PC. Hmmmm...
i understand releasing it for consoles (i have the PSP version...) but i think its nonsense to release it on PC.
I bought Metal Slug Anthology for Wii off a trader here.. it's not so good.. apparently the PS2 version is better. Not sure why a PC version would be made. It's already on 3 platforms.
Releasing collections like this is good.... but they don't really put much effort into it. Oh hey! Multiple games on the same disc! Buy buy buy!

one question about MAME: what would be the requirements for playing e.g. the MS-series on a pc?Kaspal wrote:metal slug collection to the PC?... well, we already have them all (...) on MAME... so why bother?
i just got me a used pc (not able to test it yet) and don't have the slightest idea if it'd be able to run those games flawless in MAME? if i cannot, maybe someone could tell me what to upgrade so could?
the specs: Maxtor 120 GB HD / Athlon XP 2500+ / Radeon 9600 PRO / 512MB RAM
is this kinda ok for MAME?

Well im not sure of the spec but you can play all of them without too hefty a PC. well all but the last one thats on Atomiswave.lewisit wrote:one question about MAME: what would be the requirements for playing e.g. the MS-series on a pc?
oooh just thought you can play it! Theres an official Korean version for the PC I think. I have 1, 2, X,3 on one disc and four on another.

Why would MAME play any factor in releasing games for the PC? MAME ROMs aren't any kind of an official, licensed release, and this pack looks to be official.Kaspal wrote:metal slug collection to the PC?... well, we already have them all (but 6, and 7 that is actually DS exclusive) on MAME... so why bother? The Coop wrote:Interesting.

I think MAME has nothing to do with the companies at all.The Coop wrote:Why would MAME play any factor in releasing games for the PC? MAME ROMs aren't any kind of an official, licensed release, and this pack looks to be official.

Huh. Not bad. Even so, all seven of the current games being on PC is a good thing. If they turn out well (i.e. no input lag, no censorship, etc.), I may pick it up if it's not too expensive. And if it installs ROMs that can still be played in MAME like what was done with both Taito Legends on the PC, then I'll definitely grab itLordstar wrote:I think MAME has nothing to do with the companies at all.The Coop wrote:Why would MAME play any factor in releasing games for the PC? Yes indeed. With TL1, you need an older version of MAME (v.66) because the colection uses older ROM sets. But, each game plays in MAME just fine. With TL2, it uses the current ROM sets for much (all?) of the games, so you can play them in the up to date versions of MAME.Jockel wrote:lol, didn't know that. The Coop wrote: And if it installs ROMs that can still be played in MAME like what was done with both Taito Legends on the PC, then I'll definitely grab it
Even better, is that when you zip up the individual folders, they're named properly for MAME. It's one of the rare times you can basically buy ROMs for MAME legally.
