I think Conkers Bad Fur Day helped out a lot in my life, like knowing chocolate is good for your health, and war is bad thing.

I have picked up odd bits of mostly useless trivia, a la mythological references and such, from playing games over the years...as mentioned most of it's of no practical use at all, but if something along those lines happens to come up in a conversation I can chime in with "oh, you mean xyz, from the abc period" or some such thing, and get people to do a double take and say "where the frick did you learn that?"

Usually I just shrug.

dai-ou-jou and pes4 have done a great job of teaching me humility

most commercial videogames aren't gonna teach you much, but i do think edutainment software is a great way to teach kids :)

Playing Quake, I learned that if I shoot a rocket at my feet, I can jump higher.

Playing Super R-Type, I learned that if I throw a controller at the FC Twin (NES/SNES clone), the system will lock up.

I learned to drive a stick shift due to playing Stunt Drivin in the arcade.

Seriously, the first time I'd EVER driven a real manual transmission car was one day in college when I test drove a used car (that I ended up buying). Didn't even stall it once.
