Guilty Gear XX Accent Core for USA PS2/Wii - some ?'s
I have a few questions regarding the USA version of Aksys Games' port of Arc Systems' "Guilty Gear XX Accent Core" for the PS2 console and the Nintendo Wii:
1.) Do both versions of GGXX-AC for the USA regions PS2 and the Wii consoles still contain the bug that affected the original JPN region port of the same name? (I recall that such an Append Disc was made to remedy that situation for the JPN PS2 version later on and still requires the actual game disc to boot up but wasn't released for the USA PS2 market.)
2.) Does the USA Wii version of GGXX-AC support 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio and with 480p or 480i output?
3.) Can one use such a 3rd party Hori GC Fighting Stick controller with the Wii version of GGXX-AC or even the Hori Wii Fighting Stick setup?
4.) What arcade hardware does the original GGXX-AC PCB run on?
5.) The PS2 version of GGXX-AC does support progressive scan output...very nice touch of Arc Systems to do this. ^_~
6.) The PS2 version of GGXX-AC even has the option to turn on or off, anti-aliasing for a softer and less jaggy graphical presentation -- is presented in high resolution 640 x 480 mode.
7.) The USA PS2 port of GGXX-AC does even include a full-color instruction manual as well...a rarity in today's "budget" PS2 fighting game titles. Most PS2 games come with a full-color printed instruction manual cover but the rest inside is printed in black and white to save on printing costs. Why save a few pennies and go all out with such a full-color manual to please the PS2 gaming market?
Thanks for your help, fellow shmuppers... ^_~

Naomi, I think. Not sure which one though.PC Engine Fan X! wrote: 4.) What arcade hardware does the original GGXX-AC PCB run on?
1.) Aksys fixed a number of the bugs from the JP version for the NA release(s). I don't know if ALL the bugs were fixed, since what we got is not equivalent to AC+, but I'm confident that a majority of them were because Aksys is basically Arc System's US branch.
2.) 480p: Almost certainly.
16:9: Extremely unlikely.
3.) Yes and yes.
4.) SFKhoa's right. GGXX^ Core = GD-ROM.
7.) That question isn't quite grammatically sound, but I'll try anyway. Aksys is pretty dedicated to pleasing their core market. (They had a recent foul-up with "Jake Hunter", but otherwise...) Shiki III is another budget priced release of theirs with a full color manual.

I believe the bugs were fixed in the U.S. versions of AC. I have both the AC and AC plus append addition and the only difference I saw between the 2 were bugs were fixed in the latter and Kliff and Justice were added.
I never owned the U.S. version so I can't comment much on exactly what was was fixed/added vs the import version.
Hey, if you have import capabilities, try Basara X (2D fighter...not the beat em' up)...it like Gulty Gear (same art/move style) w/assist characters built in.

Fight Like A Robot!
I'm disgusted by the fact that the author of the blurb on the back of the Wii box can't spell the word 'lose' properly.
Illiteracy (and quality control) at that commercial level is shocking.

Thanks for the 411 on my questions. I did not know that Aksys was part of Arc System Works USA branch. You learn something new everyday. ^_~
That's cool to hear that the original arcade version of GGXX-AC and GGXX-AC+ are Sega Naomi GD-Rom disc based games to begin with. Must be quite pricey in that format.
As for question #7, yes, it isn't quite grammactically sound but you answered it just fine. It's good to hear that Aksys wants to please their hard-core fan base whether it be fighting or shmups fans. ^_~
I was a bit confused, yes, it is the PS2 version of GGXX-AX+ port that has the infamous bug and was fixed with the GGXX-AX+ Append Disc release. I do recall that Arc System Works did release both GGXX-AX+ with Append Disc set sold together. Makes me wonder if a USA PS2 port of GGXX-AX+ will be released in the nearby future. Aksys should consider doing so. ^_~
Thanks again for your informative answers, fellow shmuppers.

Nope, it's the JP PS2 port of GGXXΛC that has the bugs. Then the US PS2 version of GGXXΛC fixed them. Then GGXXΛC+ and GGXXΛC+ Append was released in Japan, the latter for folks who already owned the JP version of GGXXΛC. The US has gotten screwed out of features in every installment except the original GG so I'd be doubtful about any upgrades being localized.PC Engine Fan X! wrote: I was a bit confused, yes, it is the PS2 version of GGXX-AX+ port that has the infamous bug and was fixed with the GGXX-AX+ Append Disc release. NCSX has the JPN PSP version of GGXX-AC+ up for sale for a mere $39.90 USD with 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio setup:

I always just called them "FRCs" myself, hehDale wrote:I'll call them what I want. And what I said is still valid.zaphod wrote:They aren't false romans.
they are force roman cancels. The translation error has been corrected for accent core. check the home page.

And I still havent tried out Basara X yet..... though it's sitting here...... just havent gotten around to it. But I know how awesome it's gonna be.
Of course, as should be evident from my name and AV, nothing will ever top GG for me.
