Triggerheart Exelica Enhanced for PS2

Post by Kiken »

Yeah, apparently Warashi aren't done porting this game to consoles yet:

Seeing as there was an individual thread for the XBLA version, I figured starting a new thread for the PS2 rev would be acceptable.

This better be good. I wonder how they plan on selling on a 13,000+ yen Limited Edition (see scan) of a game which is available for $10 on XBLA...

Well, 8000 Yen for the regular version is pretty extreme. But the LE rev comes with a figure. Then again, the XBLA rev is a weird hybrid... I guess the PS2 version will have some additional game mode.

Looks like there's at least a possibility of "Milestone Syndrome" (aka "buy it on Dreamcast to show your support, then be smacked with a superior port on a more mainstream system later") spreading to other companies (look for Under Defeat Over Drive and Last Hope - Good Version next!). Of course, this diagnosis depends on how well this turns out...

Two things.

1. It's also on an actual disc and marketed to collectors who would most likely rather own a disc than a download.

2. They're selling it in Japan were almost no one has an Xbox 360.

Just posted this to shoot the core:

The article mentions that Fendia, who was an enemy in the game, is playable in the PS2 version, and that there is a story mode besides arcade mode, in which players see story scenes as they progress.

Doesn't say anything about being more manic actually.

Wasn't this in the DC port as well?

Though if Faintear (I guess that's who they mean by "Fendia") is playable, that's new.

Dunno about the DC port, I'm not a fan of the game. But looks like the story mode has full voice. New?

And yes, Faintear is the correct romanization. Sorry about the mixup.

Nope. That's straight from the DC port.

Makes sense since 'manic' is a bastardized western word and the article is Japanese.

This is being published by Alchemist. Who knows what their policy on reprinting is.

Huh, didn't see that one coming. Interesting.

Guess the PS2 still has few shmups left in it.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

I'll pass... just like the DC version. Though if I wasn't/didn't, I'd get the DC version for the 480p.

Man... every time I start thinking the PS2 is done, another interesting game is announced. I'll probably buy it as I have no intention of getting a 360.

Oh, I have a PS2, I meant that I will probably buy this game because I can't play the inexpensive 360 version.

That was unexpected, it's been 2 years since I first played the game.

Hopefully it'll look better than Shienryu Explosion, or the NAOMI Exelica in interlace mode.

Yet another 're-release' and the shmup community is going 'bonkers'...

For being hard to please we are quite a gullible bunch. I wouldn't be surprised to find that most people writing in this thread doesn't even like the game in the first place.

has it been announced that this wont support 480p? the ps2 should be more than capable of running this in progressive mode.

I love Triggerheart Exelica - It's one of my favorite shooters.

I wonder if Faintear is going to be unique, or just a clone of one of the other characters. Anyways, I'll probably pick this up if it has anything beyond the DC port.
This is not similation. Get ready to destoroy the enemy. Target for the weak points of f**kin' machine. Do your best you have ever done.

More stuff from Dengeki Online.

Since Faintear is now playable, her boss appearances have been replaced by Faintear Imitate.

even if it is exactly like the DC version i will buy it just to show support.....

and it is an awesome game!!

plus with the PS2 version i can throw it on the hardrive and shelf the disc...

the only thing that annoys me with the DC version is i have a US DC so i have to use a bootdisc to load it
