no offense to any current generation lovers. But we have to admit the mainstream video game industry is really getting pathetic (much like the film and music industries)

I would say "hey, has it not been getting really pathetic for the last decade or so", but alas, this seems like a new low.

Oh come on, the picture was awesomely funny and you know it!!!

Hell, I was watching Nintendo's conference with a lot of anticipation. I was expecting them to reveal something awesome. But they didn't... so bleh.

Anywho, if you wanna game just snag a JP Xbox360 and we can play some Otomedius in September! 8) (not sure if Raiden IV will have online).

Otomedius is an anime version of Aegis Wing. It sucks.

Raiden IV definitely won't have online.

I'm saving for a car, which I need for my job, so I'm saving as much as I can. Those games will probably be offline by the time I can afford to spend on a next gen console.

Alternatively, I could always anticipate upcoming titles and hope that they have modes which they most likely won't.

Personally, I don't really care if Raiden IV has online or not, since I probably won't be buying it. :P It was just the only other shmup coming out in September I could think of.

They forget about past great games within a year and have no concept of what makes a game good outside of whether it looks or sounds good. Making mainstream gamers and mainstream gaming media far more pathetic then the film or music fan's and media have ever been, or will.

It seems there is alot that was missed.

Team Ico are apparently on vacation.

Wipeout HD thats should be already out didn't get a sniff at E3.

Sony and MS should have said "If you don't like FPS don't bother turning up"

On a serious note, there was quite a bit of technology news. Lots about PSP/PS3 integration, home, LBP (little big planet), dashboards, Motion plus for Wii and stuff like that.

Nintendo -

Problem is, the Wii stuff was all tech demo stuff, not final game stuff. It looked like you play a musical instrument by just randomly waggling. Although the Jet Ski demo looked cool.

Microsoft -

Microsoft has a problem. Their audience is FPS through and through. There is no point touting a movie making game if people don't get blown up. The highlight for MS is that all console demo's were shown using 360.

Sony -

God Of War 3 teaser (pre-rendered) and lots of FPS shit. Almost every other game looked like a clone of the other (not Sony's fault, Microsoft did it also).

Very disappointing for gamers. We need more variety in games and we cannot rely on Nintendo to do everything with wii motes.

Something i've noticed is the wide open areas in games that use all the horse power of the console. Its pointless. Unless you need to walk, drive and fly having open wide environments is pointless. God Of War franchise shows that as long as you have closed in areas the framerate is spectacular and the graphics are sublime.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

Jesus Christ, that was funny as hell.

He´s desperately trying to make his performance sound good, but it´s just turning out like some kid slamming the drum keys on a cheap keyboard. Now when Miyamoto stepped on the stage, it suddenly shifted from purely comedic to just embarrassing and sad.

:( :( :( "We designed Wii Music to allow everyone the joy of performing music." :( :( :(

Yeah, now you´ll have to have a room full of overpriced plastic gadgets and STILL it´s just sounding like bad MIDI-files. I mean, the "Why not do real sports outside?" argument on Wii Fit was obvious already, but this... This is just really sad. So, is Miyamoto saying that this is targeting people who are disgusted at the concept of LEARNING TO DO STUFF PROPERLY?

This.

Microsoft just announced more studios they're buying exclusives from or technologies they're ripping off.

Sony had a really cool Little Big Planet presentation, that was the best thing they had.

And Nintendo... ugh. I was hoping for some good announcements like Kid Icarus or Pikmin or Starfox. Instead we got Animal Crossing. The most exciting thing there was the Wii MotionPlus and the 1:1 fencing game.

Oh yeah, and Wii Music looks like a game for 3 year olds. "No need to match notes on the screen or time button presses or movements. All you need to do is move around as if you're playing the instrument and the game will play the music FOR YOU! It's so easy!" It's barely even a game at all, it's just stupid.

You're talking about Death Label for DS, I assume? Play-Asia is taking pre-orders.

Yes, Death Label. Pre-orders are good, but it still doesn't come out in September, though, supporting jp's point.

When I first saw someone mention Ketsui I thought they were saying Ketsui X was coming out in September.

I would freak out with happiness if that was happening. But no...

But Ketsui Death Label should tide me over. :)

Mirror´s Edge looks very interesting. It seems to have some sort of focus and style to it that reminds me a bit of Portal.

Now that´s a kind of realism I actually like.
