Are you? Or did you rather hated the thing with a passion?

Just curious... :)

Put me down as a fan. The bathtub scene is simply burned into my mind forever.

I didn't like Julien Donkey-Boy at all, but I'm looking forward to checking out Mister Lonely when it hits DVD.

The scene with the two kids riding down the road on their bikes while Sleep's "Dragonaut" plays in the background is quite possibly the most bad ass piece of film in existence.

Haha, I tuned into this by mistake when watching TV a few years ago. I had no idea what it was at first, but I was completely hypnotized and amazed by that scene and a few others. I will have to watch all of it someday.

Ahhh, this film was very much part of my childhood. I adored it and it still does hold a very special place in my heart. Growing up on a pretty rough council estate, this film made me realise that, hey, life really isn't that bad

And yeah, the soundtrack is awesome.

Depressing as hell. Definitely in the catagory of movies that I can see once, appreciate in a weird way and never see again. I liked the seen where the guy wrestles the chair for some reason.

As animal lover who is partial to cats I did find some scenes a bit much though. :(

Gummo was pretty good, but not amazing.

Hate the cat scenes only. The movie exposes this hypocrisy of mine and of some others, and it was obviously intended this way.

PSA: don't huff solvents kids. Strips myelin from some craniofacial nerve eventually. Google tic doloreaux or trigeminal neuralgia.

BTW- Lower East Side hipster or not, Harmony Korine is amongst my favorite film directors behind maybe Kubrick and Werner Herzog.

True say. When I discovered that the maker of Kids and Julian Donkey Boy was a middle class, well presented Jewish guy, I had to laugh. Awesome talent though, in spite of his silver spoon.

I rented it once because it looked interesting. I didn't like it at all. Not because it was too disturbing or too weird or anything like that, it just didn't do anything for me.

great film yup.

Agree on everything said about harmony, but he does make a good movie.

I had heard that he (and maybe Vincent Gallo too?) made some film that was basically just Harmony getting his ass beat down by various kids in NYC....

...not sure the whole story, but I kind of always wanted to see it...

still cant beat sleep either.....

The film you talk about was filmed, pretty much finished, but never released, It involved him going up to strangers, picking fights with them and intentionally loosing. Apparently he seriously misjudged how beat up he was going to get...

The most interesting 'lost' Korine film for me is 'Jokes', a portmanteu film with each of three individual sections coresponding to misheard joke. I think one short film of the three was completed; I saw stills of it some 4 years ago. It would be nice if it surfaced in some way, shape or form :)
