Just rediscovered my love of Kamui this weekend. Truly a beautifully-made shooter on Hard, I'd forgotten just how good it was. Looking to start playing for maximum score, now that I've gotten to grips with the final boss. Enough to not get massacred by him, if not KO him with a x16 blast.

I'm eagerly anticipating picking up Reflex and Alltynex 2nd as well, here's hoping both are completed soon. Siter Skain make exactly the shooters I want to play.

Ah, another weekend of retro goodness has passed ..

played some Keio Flying Squadron, Bari-Arm and Radiant Silvergun. Though completely off-topic finally finished Shining Force CD as well.

Also exchanged my faulty Truxton cartridge for Gynoug (Wings of Wor) - wow these bosses are sick

If all goes well I will be getting my hands on a copy of Souky later today, so will probably be playing that a lot the coming weeks.

I spent my night cursing at the screen while playing Progear.

Curse whoever came up with that freaking third stage. Whoever it was, I really hate them.....

I've come so damn close to 1cc-ing this SO many times now, but I havent QUITE done it. My closest one, was I got the final boss down to the very final attack pattern. Then I proceeded to crash into the boss. That was smart.

Then I played DDP a little, got to stage 3, yelled a bunch and scared the hell outta my cats in the process.

This really isnt my night for these, no.....

I've given Sengoku Ace a week, and I think I will put it on my shortlist of games to return to.

This week I'm going to have a little caravan interlude with my best buddy Ootake. I think I will play Alzadick and if I get tired of that (I won't) then i'll put a little bit of time in on Final Soldier.

Raiden DX. This is the first Raiden game I've fired up in quite some time, but I've still got love for the Purple weapon.

Edit: I really like that the game gives me a bonus for a bad habit I've displayed when playing other shooters - placing my ship in the center of the screen after killing a boss. Also, I found that I just have to play this with the New Release music. The original Raiden DX BGM just isn't to my taste (not jamming enough).

Space Invaders Extreme (again).

Hate. Divebombing. Invaders.

Also Blast Works, which is silly awesome. Love that game. Love the editors.

And whoever came up with that 4th campaign (Im playing on Ace) should be shot. It's just as obnoxious as the 4th level in Mushihime.

Progear.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH to that.

Also, still working on a double-play of DoDonPachi.

My best run in that so far, I very nearly killed that awful 5th boss..... the stupid thing had literally 2 pixels left of it's health bar when I went down.

I'll manage a double-play clear of that game yet.

Oh, and Space Invaders.

Gradius V

I got 60 some hours clocked I think... chippin' away at that leaderboard. Type 3 all the way!

...waaaas playin' a lil Mushihime-sama lately. I convinced myself that my attempts in Maniac mode were in vein, and overall frustrated me more than I felt satisfaction from a higher score or parent / child team leader combo. I've been aiming to 1cc the game in Original mode... I know... I can do that... if I keep at it. *curses the bullet hell*

Souky on Saturn, for the last three days. This game is awesome. Too bad the text overlay graphics are screwy due to the AR, but can't complain about that too much, the game is sweet.

Recca.

First time that I tried this.

Ended up sitting here for 40 minutes trying the Score Attack mode over and over again till I was able to get something worth posting.

I think I can see what all the fuss is about over this game.....

Patriot Dark. Doujin shmup in the making.

Contains elements from the following games:
- Espgaluda (borrows item system)
- DoDonPachi (borrows chaining system)
- Ketsui (sort of borrows from graphical style)

Star Soldier R, which I bought earlier.

Turns out this is awesome.

It's nice to have a shmup I can play entirely for score, particularly when it's fun to do (as opposed to most of Cave's games, that I play just for survival).

I gotta say, my previous concerns about the game possibly lacking challenge, or wondering if it was worth it for something that is just caravan modes, well, that was blown away fast, heh.

Still on Espgaluda. I'm having a lot of fun just screwing around with the Kakusei Mode at different spots.

Not a bad entry in the series, and better than what followed. It's still behind Most Wanted (the last very fun NFS) and Hot Pursuit 2, though.
