St-st-st-stutterin' movie playback

Post by doodude »

Im having problems playing movies on my HP PDA.

HP iPAQ hx2495b Pocket PC - Intel PXA270 520MHz - 64MB/192MB ROM - 3.5 Active Matrix TFT Color LCD - 65536 Colors (16-bit)

Ive also got XPCUScalar & can get 663 MHz out of it with a simple adjustment. Anything over that & it gets whacky.

Ive used a Desktop converted & changed the movie from .AVI to WMV8.
But when I play the movie it. on. ly. pla. ys. in. a. stut. ter. ing. way & its so fucking annoying.

Can anything be done? Is it the WMV8? What format would be best for W CE 5? :?

have you tried the converted movies on a normal PC??

cuz it could just be a bad encode.....

also im not familiar with the hardware or the software capabilities of your gear but is wmv the only video format your PDA will run??

perhaps try putting the divx codecs on it and see if it will run normal divx avi files

aside from that i would probably have to get my hands on it to get to the bottom of the problem....

have you ever been able to run movies on it?

hope that helps some anyways....lol

Seems it must be the encode.

I was using a free converter I downloaded that must have been crap.

I used a different trial version converter ( enuf to test ) & the PDA plays smoothly as it should.

Guess I need to keep looking for a converter.

Anyone know of a good "free" converter on line? :?

I always use Virtualdub/Virtualdubmod for anything .AVI related. It can also read decrypted .VOBs and certain MPEG formats.

Speaking of DivX...

I bought a Creative ZEN mp3 & video player.

I used Nero 7+ to convert a DivX movie & got no sound.

I used Creatives Media Converter to convert a book on tape/CD.
14 CDs @ aprx 500 + mb ea down to under 20mb each, um...& got no sound.

Did I mistakenly, with Nero's help, try to make small a DivX movie file that was already as small as could be smaller than could work?

Did I do the same thing to the book using Creative?

How would you have converted a movie or book for use in an mp3 player?
