Egret 2: A journey in pictures

Post by Skykid »

Egret ahoy!

Here's a little docu-drama of yesterday's journey:

And we're off from Brighton, cab bound somewhere in the middle of a national forest (!) not so far from Southampton!
Image

The castle up on the right reminded me of outrun 2, hence the picture.
Image

Then out of nowhere, Jpj shows up in his little car! Gives us a wave as he races by! Hi Jpj!
Image

Okay, so then we got lost. We missed the turning, then went the wrong direction for about twenty minutes and came back around. Eventually we enter the national forest or whatever. Pleasant looking place eh?
Image

Tone, the Killer Cabs mod who arranged the order, left me instructions to make sure NOT to take the first road. My mate was like, 'fuck it' and took it anyway. Off road extreme, we pretty much scraped the bottom of the car to shit trying to get down there, but it was fun. So fun in-fact, I've never driven before, so he jumped out and let me take the wheel and I went up and down that path about four times. Awesome.
Anywayz, eventually we make it:

This baby was fucking HEAVY!
Image

If you're wondering just how out of the way we were (like a village in a Forest, Hobbit style) this is what we saw round the corner from the garage, scratching its head on a bench near the local pub.

Image

Got it home after many hours, and gave it a quick scrub down on the decking. Looking nice now!

And at home:

A beauty. Congrats! Owning such a nice cab most certainly negates the need for a copy of Harmful Park, innit?

Nah, it's really easy actually! Just pop the hood, undo four screws and gently turn to the left until it clicks into place. The Bezel around the monitor is a pain in the ass though. It has about nine screws to redo, but in the end I just used two (one on the top and bottom) and it looks fine once down.

Kindgrind lol! Give up on my HP willya! :D

You can leave out all the personal details if you like.

A pic of your fingerprint in front of the cab would help enough already... :P ;)

on topic: you got what I still want now (not everyone in my house is agreeing though and since I am not the owner of it... :()

Of course I'm the alpha male. The basement shelves filled with video games is one thing, the cab is taking it a notch further. It's not "contrived" anymore, behind doors closed, it becomes sexy... and therefore, opposition. :)

Ha ha! I bought it first and asked permission later! :D

Tigercrane, it's a stunner yep. Japanese build quality at its finest. Who needs cars when you got cabz.

I'd just like to point out that this beautiful cab (and my god, was I loving playing Mushi on this today - I firmly believe this cab got me to stage 5 on original mode) was cheap! I've decided to come up with some comparative purchases you could make:

A bare Ketsui Board

Less than half the price of a Death Smiles Kit

Not much more than a PS3 console on launch

About two complete and mint copies of Shinrei Jusatsushi Taromaru

Etc.

The point is, it came all the way from a Japanese arcade and the price included shipping. Next time you're thinking about splashing out on a PCB, you could always consider an E2 as an alternative purchase!

i really want one, even though in the back of my mind i know it makes no sense, and could afford it. but what are the odds of being able to get something like this up three flights of stairs?

Just checked.

It's about 7:1 atm... ;)

On a more serious note... I am wondering if I could get this huge machine up to my playroom if I bought one too. Small staircase and all...

I take it it's a 15khz only monitor? Is there such thing as a trisynch with easy rotate?

i think i'd read that e2's are dual sync (15/24), and e3's are tri-sync (15/24/31)

There is if you swap the chassis in an E2!

take the cab apart....or if its just a matter of carrying the heavy fucker and not a space restriction just take the monitor out and move the cab and monitor seperately.....most of the weight in the cab is the monitor.....

take a new astro for example.....just over 200lbs. total.....the friggin monitor weighs like 150lbs.....

and its way easier to carry the monitor with two people than trying to lug a cab up stairs

thankfully i just had to take my front door off the hinges to get the cab in.....and only 3 stairs down....none up.....basement!!1!!

That' doesn't sound very fun, to be honest.
