Wii VC- Questions

I was wondering, can you download games from the Japanese VC download site and play the games on your U.S. Wii?

Also, if it is region locked, are there good chips that solve this problem? Would the download site know?

Also, how is the emulation on the Wii VC?

Yr Wii is tied into the Wii Shop for its own region. I think you can get around it with mods, but it's probably not a wise thing to do, given that it's online and so potentially easy for Nintendo to detect any fiddling with the hardware or firmware.

You can't download VC games out of your region. Just can't.

My US Wii connects to the US VC despite not living there and having a foreign IP address. I did hear that there's some sort of hack which allows you to download VC games for free, but I haven't researched it.

All Virtual Console and WiiWare games are just wad files. It is possibly to make the games region free by running them through FreeTheWads (works with most games).

The emulation for the Wii VC games seems to be pretty good. The one thing that sucks though is that you need either a Classic Controller or Gamecube controller to play SNES games. However if you use the SNES9x emulator for the Wii (game compatibility seems pretty good), you can use the WiiMote.
