 Wow, I was just taking a wild guess, and I´m surprised I even remembered this in the first place.

http://grev.co.jp/mamonoro/index.html

I´m really wondering how this will turn out, doesn´t really look like G.Rev at all...

Looks like Shiki, only (even) more cartooned up. Not feeling that at all.

What has Treasure been up to lately?

Do keep in mind the reason why Border Down was created was due to a successful turnout of a rather generic puzzle game called Doki Doki Idol Star Seeker. I'm guessing that they're throwing in a somewhat similar art style into this shmup.

Also...G.rev is made up of remnants from Taito, so maybe this is just their Taito/Bubble Bobble traits showing off...I think.

From recent knowledge, probably brewing up a spiritual sequel for Sin and Punishment for Wii...though that's not really a shmup in a sense.

The problem w/ Mamoru-kun is that in game it looks like utter crap. And AFAIK, Moss staff make up half of Gulti. I assume the next Cave game will be announced a week or so before the AM Show, and be showcased there. Most likely Yagawa's turn.

Whoah whoah where did you hear that? If that's true I'm really excited!

From GoNintendo, from Nintendo Power:

NP: When we spoke a couple of years ago, you mentioned that you would like to do a sequel to Sin and Punishment. Has the team given any more thought to that? And don’t you think it would be a perfect fit for Wii?

Masato Maegawa, Treasure: When we were originally working on Sin and Punishment [for Virtual Console], there was some discussion utilizing Wii-like controls, and I think now that we’re working more with the Wii, it is something we’d very much like to try.

If you look at the Treasure article on Wikipedia, you'll notice on the last 3 games, it contains the prototype title "Unnamed Wii Action Game". That could potentially be the S&P spiritual sequel.

Wow...you think it looks like crap? I only saw the screenies today and actually was pretty impressed by what I saw...perhaps I'm just a cheap date. If the gameplay matches the visuals (provided that they're smooth), I think that I'll be quite happy with it. Something I'm quite looking forward to playing, anyway.

Cave games have never really been my thing, anyway.

The game is a ground based shooter at least. There hasn't been many of those lately.

The "System" page has been added as of today, but it doesn't do me a whole lot of good since I can't read a lick of Japanese. Still, it's obviously a joystick-and-two-buttons game from what's shown.

I still say this thing, at least on initial impressions of how it looks, could be great.

Could be. All I got from the screens was a sub par Touhou rip-off though. Still, I have faith in G-Rev :)

Exactly. I mean, looking at something like screenshots of Border Down, one could easily think it was a sub-par R-Type rip-off. Obviously, it wasn't that, nor was Under Defeat a sub-par *fill-in-your-choice-of-vert-here* rip-off, either.

I'm looking forward to it. Even if it does turn out to be a sub-par game, GRev's earned a pass should they miss the mark once.

Yeah, but I've seen this one move. It's Triangle Service quality. Now admittedly Ilvello turned out way better than it's loke test version (not graphically, but there's enough there to interest me).

You have, now? Hmm. Care to share the link to it in motion? Or did you just see it in your area on test or something? If you've seen it in motion, then you have a bit more than just screen shots to go by, in which case, your argument holds more sway, I'd say.

Still, who knows? Our tastes could be diametrically opposed to each other, and you may hate what I love. I'll still (more cautiously now) look forward to it with optimism.

I'm a huge Grev fan, but I have to admit Mamonoro looks bad. It's not 100% Grev though, but co-developed by Gulchi, so I'm blaming them! :P

Here's a little video on youtube:

It doesn't look particularly good but fun all the same. It's more like an overhead run & gun though. I guess you can lock the direction of fire by holding the button, like in Shock Troopers et al.

It's somewhere in my brain. I saw it at the AOU Show in February.

I've been trying to be a bit objective.... but everything I see on it does make it a little turd like visually.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

I'd really like to hear more opinions on Ilvello already.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Hey, thank you *so much* for providing this link. I had tried looking on YT earlier, but failed miserably because I didn't think to include "location" or "test" or anything so obvious as that. I'm so glad to have been able to see the thing in motion.

I think it looks quite fun! I actually kind of like the graphics that are there, and I guess part of the reason is that they sort of give me a Viewpointesque vibe, which is always a plus with me. If it plays nicely, I doubt I'll be disappointed in it.

Nevertheless, I am basing it on 35 whole seconds of coverage, with some idiot waving an umbrella in front of the guy's camera saying, "No camera" and other garbage. Sheesh...can't they just tap the guy on the shoulder and ask him to stop recording without being such idiots?

Having seen the video, I'm curious about the ability to direct your fire to the left or right. Anybody know if that's something automatic as you move to the edge of the playing area, or something you control? Kind of makes it look a bit run-n-gun-meets-shmup.

I'll hold out hope for this game, but I can see the Tou-hou analogy holds true from the limited bits I've seen.

And yeah, what's the score with Ilvello?
