Getting negative rep on XBox live, and the amount of numptys

Are people kicking for stupider reasons then ever? Since playing KIngom Under Fire and Street Fighter 2 HD I seem to have aquired neg rep..

I had unsportsmanlike neg rep for beating some american on Street Fighter.. And disruptive for not having a mike or well I did call them a fat cheese burger eating '?%*.. Well he did tell me he was gonna merk me as I beat him..

Why is most of the americans online seem to think there the 'Rock' of WWE and have to cite all his phrase's.. Or just shoot everyone on there on team on Halo 3 and generally scream down the mic...

The KOD people seem to be the most braindead and annoying kids who seem to get wood by kicking people from the room, or either that fancy Celine.. Or the lastest classic get invited to multi player KOD.. And some other kid is talking to me.. And the host is like why are you talking to him your more my friend you came to play with me...

Does anybody on here play Super Contra or Jetpac Refueled if yu could hit me up as I still have a few achievements to get

In all reality, rep doesn't mean a lick. Before playing Call of Duty 4 I had something like 93% positive. Now I'm down to 66% avoided...for unsportsmanlike conduct. Me, of all people. All in all, even if it wasn't broken, rep would still be a useless stat to pay attention to. As for Americans...well...some of us are dicks. That being said, I've run into quite a few Brits in COD4 that are just as bad. Most people are cordial, but there are always assholes online, no matter where they're from.

Seconded. If you're decent or practice to be good- you WILL get negative rep.

I just wish in one of their updates they'd make it so I could only play with 18+ yr olds.

In all fairness there not all like it have some amazing Metal Slug players who are Americans and they have all the achievements unlocked, and when playing them in 1 player they where 1 lifing every level..

It just seems to be on COD and KOD they happen to be American.. I read on the NTSC-UK forums that the american COD4 players are supposed to be very annoying..

Dear mum and dad Elixir this summer Holiday I'm going to leave my bedroom to show you all the souls I owned on the Shmups Website... I(t's hard getting round with a PC strapped to my back as a life support machine) And I can show you all the souls I owned over the internet.. It doesn't matter that nobody was bother about 3 minutes after reading it.. Dad it just helps boost my serverely low self estem!!!

There should be some sort of restrictions on rep when it comes to XBL. Maybe they need to down-weight the rep based on whether the giver has recently lost a game to you (i.e. within the past 3 weeks or one month).

As for those who don't use mikes or headsets, I don't blame them. Maybe they don't want to hear trash talk laced with more profanities per minute than Richard Pryor could put out in a whole hour of standup, belittling comments, racist or sexist junk, Steve Urkel cacklesnorts, drunken rambling, etc. Some voice chatters are even worse to listen to than bottom-of-the-barrel lousy voice actors in certain games.

Nintendo doesn't see voice chat as necessary, and I generally tend to agree. The message system is perfectly good for communication.

Oh wow, I love the irony of this entire response. I find an '08 talking about my track record to be highly amusing. See, my comment was actually comprehendable as opposed to your post above and the initial post in the thread. There's a preview button, as well as built-in Firefox spell-checking, so ignorance/idiocy is no excuse.

Anyway, I think what he's trying to say is that he doesn't like playing with Americans on Xbox Live. I've actually found poms to complain way more often. It doesn't bother me though, the game's there to be played. If you play it online, expect people to lag as it's an international service.

If anyone has Bomberman Live here, I'd love to play.

As far as I've just read, he's tried to bring up 3 different arguments, and a very unnecessary question.

About your rep thingy, get real. Just ignore it, because it's not that big of a deal. You sound a bit like a snob rich kid.

I think Nintendo is nuts personally. I would at least like the option- it's pretty stupid that I have to start XBL with private chat to talk to people over Smash Brothers.

Never played a day of Xbox Live in my life, but it sounds like this Reputation system just generally provides people with a way to vent their butthurt feelings from losing to others in a video game.

As for the way some people act online, it needs to be said again:

Like Damocles pointed out, it's an online environment and assholes should be expected all the time. Location doesn't matter — there are no region lockouts when it comes it Internet shitheadedry.

I recieved negative Rep for not having a mic.. A quick look at your posting History shows you liketo start arguments, This is not a fist fight or a real world threat. No one is harming you in any real way and there is no "honor" to be lost by not retaliating. Be the bigger person and leave the reply button alone. I asked about what Rep means and why I was getting Negative Rep for the stupid things, like not having a Mic, and not fancying a computer character..

I used to post on the old Shmup Board around 2003 same time as Mode 7 and Alamone.. Two of the best Shmup players I witnessed.. Then we had the people like you posting "What's your favourite shmup tree".. First they opened a seperate board to members who actually wanted to talk about shmups, but then the like's of you drove all the good players left

Anyone knows what the difference is by leaving feedback and filing a complaint? My rep is at 77% avoiding me and I neither suck (horribly) or tea bag!

Hermosaguy thats what I've been trying to find out.. I heard of somebody who lost there Gold Membership because of a complaint.. Not sure if this is true.. I'v heard people say complaints/rep mean nothing and others say rep is important to them

Does anybody remember the bitching (it wasn't that long ago) about one of the current games - err CoD 4? - being country-locked so that you could only play with people from the Isles if you were in the UK (for example)? This is almost the flip side of that.

Having it as an option wouldn't be bad. But given that those who don't like to use VC generally have a good reason, "not using a mike" shouldn't count against Reputation.

I'd neg someone only for a truly GRAVE reason (e.g. way too offensive on VC, general attention whoring, quitting).

One player may be compatible with some players, but not with others. This fact and the presence of the Avoid function makes the Reputation star grade kind of pointless. You cannot please everyone, and "Rep Rape" is definitely a problem. Beat a sore loser, and he may commit Rep Rape.

There is an issue with COD4 and Australian users, if I remember correctly. Getting booted, perhaps. UK players get shafted as they rarely get Host and lagging across the pond sucks.
