Shit, that was some drama - it must be a record equalizer, scored within 45 seconds in the only minute of stoppage time. Awesome.
Croats lost their bottle on the penalties - that was a shambles.
Fantastic finale to a fairly cagey match!

Germany vs Turkey and Spain vs Russia.
I must say it they do sound like interesting fixtures to me (and no that is not meant sarcastically!).
Just being a little chauvinistic after all I'll support the Russians (Hiddink being a great export product for our little country- well that and I like playing style these days
).
predictions:
Germany - Turkey 2:1
Spain - Russia 1:3

but (and i'm surely not a german-team-fanboy: actually i pressed my thumbs for the imho best-football-playing team of the tournament: the netherlands - as we all know that didn't help much...) germany - turkey i totally disagree:
imho it's either 5:0 (when things go "normal" - considering the recent strengh of the german team and the b-team the turks are forced to set up because of injuries & card-bans) or it's 0:1 (if another of these miracles happens for the turkish team like so often in this em)
we'll c

i felt really bad for turkey. have to disagree with you dude, i thought turkey played very purposefully, despite all the injuries/suspensions, and was gutted they lost. and what the flying fuck with that electrical storm
well... let's see what happens tomorrow...!

Yeah, that was a nervewrecking game, even though I normally don´t care for soccer. And the broadcasting troubles were brutal. When the regular broadcast pulled the plug and they switched to the swiss images after a couple of minutes there was a noticable lag in the commenting. On one of the later goals you could hear the commenter scream "Goal!" while the players were still struggling onscreen

Just got back from partying here in Kreuzberg, Berlin—the most heavily Turkish neighborhood in Germany. Generally the mood was very good, and a lot of Turks were celebrating too. Some people had German flags, with the Turkish crescent moon in the red stripe. Pretty cool!
That was a really tough game, and Turkey could have won it just as well. They really have the fighting spirit, but I guess Lehmann is a better goalkeeper overall. He definitely saved Germany's ass more than once. The defense was terrible.
I say the final will be Germany vs. Russia. Who knows what will happen though. Finals are always so unpredictable.

Lehman was as lousy and indecisive as the defense. Of course, Germany will be champions now.CIT wrote:That was a really tough game, and Turkey could have won it just as well. Some people say this has been a great tournament with an emphasis on attacking play but what they fail to mention is the lousy defensive play that is exposed in every game. This has allowed a really mediocre German team (as German teams go) to reach the final. Look for Podolsky, Klose and Schweinsteiger to do it for Germany against a happily attacking Russia that is to weak in defense. Especially on free-kicks and corner-kicks the Russian defense is really hit and miss.
It is powerup of laser.

Though I hope Spain will win by marvelous play (like they did so far), I think Germany will win.
Come on Spain: prove me wrong.
*Laydock is watching this game in a pub full of German fans tonight.... hopes he doesn't get hurt when cheering for Spain*
ps. if Germany plays good football I won't mind them winning too....
