You're right. I forgot that smartbombs got their own button on the Amiga version too. That does give it an advantage control-wise over a Genesis w/ 3-button pad, since you can't use bombs in the air without a dedicated button.
The Genesis version has real autofire, though. If it's enabled on the Amiga, holding down the button gets you about half a second of auto until one of the other functions kicks in. You need to slowly tap fire to avoid that. This complicates the controls in a few ways.
Fire Plasma Rope
Amiga - Hold down fire for about half a second until you stop shooting and bring up the rope, then aim & release.
Genesis - Hold the rope button to bring up the rope, then aim & release.
Release Plasma Rope
Amiga - Hold down the fire button until the rope flashes, then press up.
Genesis - Press jump.
Gyroscope
Amiga - Duck and hold down fire; after shooting for about half a second it'll activate.
Genesis - Duck & press jump.
It's not like you're inputing Street Fighter commands when playing on the Amiga or anything, but the controls are a little less intuitive.
Geez, I dumped on the original versions of two Amiga games in a row. I really do like the Amiga, though. Lemmings! Apidya! See, I'm even playing Shadow of the Beast without crying! *loads game*
This is... this is so much fun. I'm... so happy. Yeah.

Yes indeed, in fact I think I need to package the game + WHDload in some easy package so that people will give it a shot, since it's definitely well worth playing.Ed Oscuro wrote:I have a feeling we'll be seeing this patch soon, rite?it290 wrote:several WHDLoad patches allow for the use of an extra button in cases where the original game didn't support it - a lifesaver for Ruff 'n' Tumble).

We here shall not rest until we have made a drawing-room of your shaft, and if you do not all finally go down to your doom in patent-leather shoes, then you shall not go at all.
I would say it's an "acquired taste".Mortificator wrote:My ears must be writing me a death threat, then, since I like Mega Turrican better.

Dragon View is something you should look out for, very neat little action-adventure game. I describe it as a "beat-em-up RPG", but that's not entirely true; I just haven't really played a game similar (that I can remember off the top of my head). It's supposed to be the sequel to Drakkhen, but it isn't very similar, except the world map has the similar style.

I am pretty sure Turrican 2 does support it originally. I am not sure about Turrican 1 ,but I think it does support it too. But turrican 2 I am completely sure it does support 2 buttons.it290 wrote:Yeah, I don't recall Turrican 1 or 2 supporting this option though (at least not without TEH HAX; several WHDLoad patches allow for the use of an extra button in cases where the original game didn't support it - a lifesaver for Ruff 'n' Tumble).

Elevator action returns... guess this is really 32 bit but really warrents a play... VERY awesome game especially if you like rolling thunder at all.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
