Prob the most insane thing I've ever seen. Shame to see the Czech Republic go out, but it was such an amazing match I don't think they should be that pissed off about it.

I am happy for them Turks and my fellow (half Turkish) compatriots.

They are very passionate about their team and I wish them well for that alone.

If Holland meets them in this tourney: we´ll kick their ass though. :D

italy vs france

and

holland vs romania

:!:

predictions? like someone else said before, i would love it if romania beat holland (as holland are resting a lot of players, bit like portugal did against the swiss), and then if italy and france draw, they both go out! however, if romania lose to holland, they're still on two points. now, if italy and france draw, there's a three way tie for the 2nd place. do they then go on goal difference? (badluck france!)

time to restock the fridge :P

Tonight is the least interesting match for holland, because even if we lose 10-0 we still go through to the next round, so there is no point really, but the tickets are paid for so we have to play after all.
I predict 2-1 for the netherlands or maybe 2-2, dunno I see something with 2's
holland- Romania 2-1
Italy - france 0-1

I just know the french will kick Italy's butt for sure. I hope Italy wins though.

France without Zidane? how could you be so sure?

Germay winns, because I wasn't right last time and if this isn't right it's right.

Italy won with a penalty and a free kick. IF we will face them again we will butcher them again for sure. we're not falling for Schwalbe's*
Schwalbe is when somebody fakes aa foul and falls down deliberetly after little or no contact!
I feel warm inside at the many votes the Netherlands got from you lot. I hope we will not disappoint you. But, you must have really enjoyed our matches. I thought they were all terrific.
One of our supporters already caries around this big fake 1st prize cup. Every time I see him and the cup in the crowd I start to laugh. Hilarious!

Since I think Russia more than made up for there result in the opening match for them, I think Holland will have a though match ahead of them next Saturday.

However being chauvinistic and having been pleasantly surprised by Orange in the first 3 matches I think we might actually have a chance this time.

This is pathetic.
Try to win and play well and fair instead of minimizing others' victories with appalling accusations, jumping in the 'haha fakers' train. This makes you the real loser. Italy's match against France was a pleasure to look at and I saw a well balanced and kickass team playing there and earning a good victory. Like Netherlands did when they destroyed Italy.

I don't care if one team or the other wins, for me soccer is always a good show. Too bad that it's plagued by constant stupid and bratty remarks (like yours) of people who take their team and the game a tad too seriously... that makes me want Italy to kick Netherland's ass.

Learn from Laydock what does "being a Netherlands supporter without being an asshole" means.

I bet 2:0 for Portugal at my office; after Germany's last two games I just didn't think they had it in them anymore. Still happy about the result though, obviously. ^^

What a great word! I think we saw the perfect example of this with Ronaldo last night. He flopped onto the floor just like that, looked around for 4 seconds, and then started crying like a baby. Never seen such a blatent schwalbe ever

So glad they got anihilated like that at this reasonably early stage.

Portugal is out it makes me happy, although they aren't a bunch of weeping primadonas anymore.

Bet on Croatia today. Have to as I predicted they would reach the final, but Turkey isn't going to give in.

it's actually the german name for this bird ("swallow") - concerning the way it moves/flies makes it quite obvious why it's used in football the way D described it:

talking about the match tonite: all my money is on turkey - they are sooo desperate (and also i wanna see them competing against germany in the half-finals)

Germany rocked Portugal. I was pleasently surprised! Wow, they were very good. Portugal was strong, but physically Germany played better.
Nice to see a little flame war here in this thread, but I did not meant it that way. I was so surprised that I was like: "yeah, we kicked their butts", but I was so very fearfull to begin with.
And Italy won from France. I based my predictions on how both played against the Netherlands and I thought France played way better than Italy.
But I guess it's some countries strategy to play bad the first few games :D
Did you guys check out the French bus when it arrived?
You gotta see this. This is narated by a Dutchmen emulating a Dutchmen talking French.

Jeeez, the last few minutes we're the stuff you only deem possible in some Hollywood flick or some. Amazing!

Though I thought Croatia was the team with the better chances and the team that deserved to win overall, I can't help but sympathize with the Turks.
This is their third narrow escape already!

With a lot of suspensions and injuries for the next match they'll have
a though time against that other team which always manages to escape somehow.
Football is a game of 2 times 45 minutes... and in the end the Germans win. ;)

Anyway for now it's gonna be a not so quiet night in the big cities here where lots of Turks live as I am sure they'll celebrate loud and proud till deep in the night...

Yup!

Turkey has them this tournament but Germany has been lucking out for ages.

Purely based on gameplay I'd put my bet on the Germans. But with 2 teams like these... who knows? :?

I´d love to meet (as being Orange fan) either of them in the final.
Both could be seen as teams we´d love to beat most.

*considers renting a car and driving to Basel Switserland tomorrow to enjoy and visit the fanzone*

ps. either way it might go: fantastic tournament so far!
No riots, good atmosphere and great footbaln and lotsa tension!

I'd love to beat Italy most in the finals.
That would be so awesome to face them again.
playing Germany is always a tense match as well.
Tonight was great, I tuned at the 7th minute (of the overtime!) 0-0.
It looked like both teams were plaving their bets on goal kicks, but in the last minutes, the keeper suddenly loses it and rushes out of his goal.
BOOM!
Then after the 30 minutes were over, and apparantly playing in extra time (even though no extra time was announced) Turkey scored!
Great shot by the way.
Amazing, indeed straight out of the movies! :D

Netherlands won't be able to play against them in the final. If they play, they will meet in the Semis—which looks likely.
