Ocarina was a phenomenal game, but it has aged terribly as far as visuals are concerned - even the upscaled Gamecube version looks horrible. As much as I like Ocarina myself, most of it's value is derived from nostalgia. Especially since most Zelda games are fundamentally the same.

Okami is a great suggestion, but the Charlie Brown babble in that game goes on for longer than most Zelda games last in their entirety.

My vote for the OP is to go for A Link To The Past.

Play the first one, then Shadow of the Colossus for maximum enjoyment.
Trek trough the Galaxy on silver wings and play football online.
