Dark Sector
Dark Sector
Some anti-violence hoopla over this game right now in Australia. It's been refused a rating.
Aside from that drama i'm pretty excited about the game. I wasn't so willing to give it a chance once they took the cheap route and had the lead walking around with no helmet looking like Jared Leto. Seemed like they were afraid not having a dominant character face would affect sales. I imagine the same thing will happen with Dead Space before it's release. Regardless, the character designs are pretty cool. They sort of look inspired by MDK and Rengoku to me.
It seems pretty interesting. The lead character is said to have a disease sort of like this one that causes him not to feel pain.
The videos on IGN and the site make the game look pretty smooth.

you just didn't want to write 'genital' anywhere in your post.It seems pretty interesting. The lead character is said to have a disease sort of like this one that causes him not to feel pain.
Faceless hero? Timeshift? : ) (I enjoyed it personally, though).
I think Dark Sector could go either way with me...it does give me a strong RE 4 vibe...which is alright by me : )

I'll be interested to hear impressions and comparisons to the developer's last major title Pariah, which did some very good things (level design, dynamic combat) and some very bad things (horrible vehicle gameplay, incoherent narrative). These developers seem to not be afraid of going against the grain, and I've been curiously awaiting their next project for a while, after not even seeing their Pariah spin-off Warpath anywhere on store shelves...

I'm looking forward to this, even if it turns out to be a 7 out of 10. I'm expecting a above average 3rd person shooter with pretty graphics. It could be a resident evil 4 clone with different weapons, a so so story and pretty decent visuals and I'll have fun.
I'm hoping it's as good as lost planet at least. Alot of folks rag on LP but I really enjoy the main game alot.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

anyway, i'm looking forward to the game as well. i honestly don't think it will be fantastic, but i was watching someplay gameplay movies the other day and it does look like there will be some fun to be had.
also, if anyone wants to see something really hilarious, check out the last segment of the "bugs" video on IGN ---> here <---
*SPOILER*:the main character runs into a room. an enemy pops in, calls for backup and pulls down a vending machine for cover... right onto himself, resulting in instant death
just to say digital extremes should keep the bug in the game, so it can pop up now and then. comedy gold.
I have no sig whatsoever.

I just tried the demo on Live Marketplace and it was pretty much what I expected: competent, but unremarkable. There would have to be a very long dry patch of new releases for me to bother buying it. When a game leans heavily on a gimmick to support it, the gimmick had better be amazing. There may be a few different attacks you can do with the frisbee, but it's just not that interesting a weapon to be the game's focal point.
