Is disco really that bad?
Without getting into super music nerd stuff...there are "disco" records out there that I'd rank up with some of the most tripped out shit I've ever listened to. Even some of the more mainstream Moroder style Italian stuff was really nice and weird.
There are some contemporary labels that still maintain a degree of the spacey disco aesthetic like Environ, Clone (and Clone Classic Cuts), and Balihu to name a few of the more accessible ones.
Morgan Geist did a compilation mix called "Unclassics" of all "so bad that they are good" disco stuff...and I'd also recommend I-F's Mixed up at the Hague compilation as well. It's more of a "hits" type of mix though.

Word. Unclassics is dope, Clone and Bunker are really good labels. Space Factory is another one that I'd rank quite highly.

We here shall not rest until we have made a drawing-room of your shaft, and if you do not all finally go down to your doom in patent-leather shoes, then you shall not go at all.

Yes Bunker is one of my all time favorite labels. All the new Composite Profuse records have been very nice. Orgue Electronique, Pametex, and Unit Moebius are a few of my fave Bunker artists as well. The only bad thing about Bunker is if you loose the info sheet you can't tell what's on the record. I don't want to derail this into a thread about dutch electro though. haha.

FLYING CARS WITH CRAB CLAWS
I'm an avid music lover... disco fucking sucks.
It was just such a low point between the greatness of Vietnam era music and the 80's. I'm so glad I was born after the disco rage. To be exposed to that, even as a young child, would have to be considered abuse in my book.
EDIT:
But stuff like ABBA and the Bee Gees... I vomit in their general direction.

EDIT:
Now see, I don't consider this disco. This is more in the electro/synth genre... and that is a dope track.it290 wrote:I dare anyone not to like this track.
