I want my FMV! Make My Video series (Sega CD)

Post by szycag »

Part 1: Marky Mark and INXS
Part 2: Kriss Kross
Part 3: C+C Music Factory

Angry Video Game Nerd gets it right sometimes, but for the most groan-inducing video game reviews, I love this guy. He's been doing a lot of FMV games lately, and this right here is a trilogy of pain. I've had the pleasure of playing the Kriss Kross one, luckily the Sega CD can play CDRs, I'd be ashamed to have a pressed copy...

I'm a proud owner of this :D :D :D Although admittedly I've only played it once and it was given to me for free :)

This is exactly why I didn't get a Sega CD (despite Spike Lee's annoying mug on TV saying to get one), stuff like this kept me from liking anything FMV for a long time.

How embarrassing did this make Sega look at them time. :x

Truly horrible "games". It's sad to see this bullshit is creeping back into modern games in form of "press x to win" quicktime events.

Also: LOL@kriss-kross

What's wrong with AVGN? His reviews are awesome and he knows what he's talking about.
Unlike countless AVGN clones like this one. (Warning: this video will make you want to murder that assclown.)

AVGN is a byproduct of the Internet Generation wherein most of the internet won't listen to anything that has enough anti-enthusiasm to be cool. Don't blame him for trying to have an audience, even if it is the lowest common denominator. He's the internet version of Larry the Cable Guy only this time the guy is pretending to be misanthropic instead of pretending to be misogynistic, homophobic and racist.

Yes, and I also have the "Jump" single on 12" vinyl. And I do play it somestimes when I DJ, along with "The humpty dance" by Digital underground

It's all about the classic early 90's hiphop :D

Yeah, I love Spoony! I first saw him when Rob linked his FFVIII reviews, his finest moments. His Dragon Strike commentary is gold, too.

Moving up in the world by inches.

AVGN annoys the hell outta me, but yeah, I don't wanna plant a brick in his face or anything, because I am not anti-enthusiastic

Back on-topic, watching certain FMV games on Youtube has been a source of great amusement for me. Sewer Shark's acting is actually pretty damned good, for one. Spengler has got to be one of the top 10 best game villains of all time.

EDIT: The world needs more video reviewers who combine these two features:

- do not yell directly into the microphone causing annoying tics

- do not have annoying as FUCK mannerisms (AVGN again)

As far as I'm concerned, the biggest way to improve video game review videos is to have less footage of the reviewer and more footage of the game, with the optimal ratio being 100% game footage, 0% reviewer's ugly mug.

There are two reasons for this: First, it's a game review, not a review of you. No one gives a fudge about what you look like.

Second, "real-time" commentary is not only unnecessary, but often aggravatingly dull. When a lot of these people are trying to play a game and talk at the same time, their brains short circuit and they fail at both. Focus on the game first, then record your voice afterwards. Both Windows Movie Maker and iMovie allow for voiceovers to be recorded on top of the footage. Take some time to write up a script (even a bad script is better than no script for most of these people), do a few takes of each paragraph and splice together the best ones.
You're arguing for a universe with fewer waffles in it. I'm prepared to call that cowardice.

Do not mention Kriss Kross and Digital Underground in the same sentence EVER AGAIN.

Hey now I was about 10 years old when those both came out so they both had an equal influence on me.

Now quit your hobnobbling hiphop snobbery :D
