SHMUP SHOP

The only PCB's I want atm are : Flying shark and Amidar. Both nostalgic classics for me. Yes, I'm that old.

Since I buy my PCB's mostly from here, I don't usually get on the scoreboard unless the battery is dead.

I'm here just to see whats happening. I don't really have any shmup knowledge to shout about, but I Will strike with alarming force when I see a PCB I want. I'm a trading lurker with a semi-big wallet.

The main problem with this site is that its in groundhog day. The same topics come up again and again which is boring. If you delete them and link someone to the old threads, the site dies through lack of usage. So what is one to do? I do appreciate the die hards putting together fan stuff. Its a shame the model kits, fan music and other fan based material comes from other sources and is just linked here. Its a shame shmups.com is not THE place to come for shmups related merchandise. I personally would like the site to explore possibilities. If you remember neo-geo.com, shaun sold tons of SNK merchandise. I Believe for shmups.com to have the same effect, it should start sourcing Cave PCB's so you can buy them here directly. It should have a trading core so that its readers don't need to go elsewhere.

Anyway, end of rant. Shmups.com could be more, much more.

you would need a lot of free time and a ton of cash to establish that. It is also very hard to source non pcb stuff at a competitive price. An Ideal situation would be very low amount of stock but the ability to order in and sell as you need which does not happen with shmup merch.

whoever were to do it would need to put down at least 2000GBP (about 4000USD) to have have an even remotely interesting amount of stock.

This deserves its own thread. im going to quote you and make one. :EDIT: which I just did.

You don't really need stock. Instead of a trading section just have a shop. Someone wants to sell something they have to advertise it in the shmup shop. A small fee goes to shmups.com to fund its basic existence. Either that or someone pays slightly below the normal asking prices and take a 20% markup or something once it sells.

But saying that, my argument isn't just for games. Its about merchandise which can be exclusively sold through shmups.com. Whether it be T-shirts, model kits, superguns or whatever. There are tons of people on here asking the same questions all the time. If some of this stuff was mass produced and available via credit/debit card i'm sure it would be as catchy as a Marvel character figurine for example.

Unfortunately some of my ideas would take someone with lots of cash, desire and marketting skills. Not to mention internet skills.

At this moment in time shmups are the most expensive videogames sold. Therefore a central governing body is needed to substantiate any meaning to what anything is worth.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

Just sounds like what the shmups sales thread does now. The 20% is a stupidly high amount for one. I would not sell my shirts on here if they were demanding 20%. Ebay (after paypal) only takes about 8% correct me if im wrong.

Prices right now seem to be on the steady climb all the time and it would what your suggestion would only increase the prices. If this were a possibility They would have to start by buying Kits from new and running a shop that way. Which is not entirely unfeasible if there was preorders taking place. If www.arcadeshock.com/ can do it why not shumps. As far as I can see they dont hold Cave/shmups stock they just order in as they get the orders. Which anyone with a couple of good contacts could do.

A lot of people on here make good money by buying from YHJ and selling on I doubt anyone would want to see there cash flow effected by a store on the site.

I have been thinking of branching out in 6 months time once my shops up and been running for some time. But I doubt I would get much other than a few OSTs as sitting on a lot of stock would be quite costly if theres a sudden negative shift in a PCBs price.

(just saw this post, not where it came from, so don't know just what it's about exactly, but...)

I think something nice would be sub forums in the trading station. One for seling, one for WTB, etc... Maybe even devided by arcade and home?

I know I'm selling a BUNCH of awesome stuff over there, and my prices are all medium to high, and I know that anyone with the patience would wait for a lower price, but anyone without the patience would enjoy buying what I have.

As far as the market prices go, prices would stabilize if you could easily see what everything is going for and how rare it is.

Plus anyone selling stuff could save a lot of time if they could easily see who wants what they have. There's other sites (VAPS, I think) that have the "looking for vs. selling" function built into it's search parameters or something like that.

Bottom line, I plan on having my for sale list up for a long time, and I'm always compelled to bump it so people will notice it, plus I'll come across WTB posts that missed my list and vise-versa. Plus, I could price my stuff a lot more effectively if I could see everyone elses lists more easily.

What do you think of that? I think an organization of the trading station would keep the prices low, plus help the deals go through. Keep in mind the the forums current search function is very loose (I probably could learn how to use it better, maybe).
