Are you a rugged woodsman or the clean shaven type?

Post by Pixel_Outlaw »

This question is just for fun, who here has some form of beard or facial hair? Are you a rugged looking woodsman or the suave smooth shaven type?

Me?

I prefer the 5 o clock shadow (shaving every other day). For just that touch of ruggedness. The sideburns seem to come in a bit slow compared to hair around my lips/chin. I recently tried a short beard wich sort of turned into a goatee. Looked pretty decent.

What do you prefer?

No, this game is not Space Invaders.

Bout the same for me, although sometimes I let it go a bit longer if I'm busy. I wore a goatee for a few years but eventually shaved it off, and have worn my sideburns long practically forever. For some time I rocked a style I call 'the Watson', namely porkchops which connected to a mustache. It was cool as hell, but I eventually got sick of it as well.

Always clean shaven, although I am one of those rare Chinese boys who could grow a beard very easily if I were so inclined. If I do not shave for one day, it is quite noticeable.

If I shaved my whole face once, I could probably grow a beard like the evil villain of Shock Troopers.

My facial hair is sparse at best unfortunately. I wouldn't mind more for the rugged look .

It's funny reading posts about beards from people with j-idol avatars, cuz you kinda picture the avatar talking and it's like... eh I won't go on.

I grow a pretty awesome beard, have one right now, despite how hot it is outside.

I only shave my beard if I become bored of it or it's in need of a trimming, though I regularly shave myself between the eyebrows in order to avoid being unibrowed.

I just cannot bother applying any request for facial hair so I shave every day (almost). I've lived together with someone pretty hairy guys thoug, I remember one in particular. He would grow a pretty noticable stubb in lunchtime so he obviously gave up the idea of clean shave pretty fast.

Varies. Been trimming them since I was 13. But then again, I have hairs on my body where they shouldn't be.

Nice one subcon, very full especially considering how young you were at the time.
I usually have a full beard, longer than subcon's. I only shave it about once a year, when it gets so long I wonder if people start to think I'm homeless :) There was one time I tried growing it longer but it seems to plateau at a certain length :( I'm hoping that when I get old I can have a really long white beard though

I also keep my hair short, so I don't have to comb it.

It's all about the low maintenance efficiency. Less time spent grooming = more time spent playing shmups. :D :D :D

I hate shaving, so i dont do it as much as possible. I dont even present myself to look proper or "clean" cause, honestly? I dont really care what others perceive of me. If I'm on a job i do this as well.

Both.
I've got a goatee. So it's half shaving and half growing. Although grooming requires almost as much dedication as shaving, so it's not really a laziness thing.

My facial hair grows nice and slow. I can generally get away with shaving only once or twice a week.

I should take a picture of one week's growth. It's just amazing how slow my facial hair grows.

During the workweek, I'm clean shaven.
On weekends, I'll generally go unshaven unless I have some event or activity where I need to look presentable.

I hate shaving. It's so useless. It grows right back.
I also hate too much hair in my face. Life's such a bitch !
I prefer to shave as less as possible which usually means about twice a week or otherwise I need more blades.
But this will probably chance to once every second day when I get a new job.
That's the lesser side of going from production worker to an IT job.

these single-use-blades are annoyingly expensive indeed.
I only shave once every 2 weeks or so, since my beard doesnt grow that fast.

I don't like electric shavers, they always seem to leave stray hairs in odd places. :?

I don't shave too often, so I tend to have a lot of stubble. I think I look better like that then when I'm clean shaven.

I'm 100% with ya buddy. It's ridiculous that we are generally expected to look shaven and looked down upon by some for having a beard. When I went in for my interview at my current job, I went in with full beard and they hired me no problem :) I've been here over 4 years now. This is an office job at a hospital.

Usually whenever I shave (once a year), a lot of people, especially the younger women always say "it looks so much better that way!" like they are relieved that I cut it, but I really don't care. There is one lady who works here that is in her 70's that likes my beard, she always compliments me and says it looks nice when it gets long. Apparently when she was young (back in the 40's) there used to be beard-parades and she has fond memories of them. :D

I will be 31 next week and still cannot grow a full beard. In all honesty it looks like I will be "patchy" till the day I die. I can grow a mean set of sideburns though!

I have a bit of a beard. It came about from being super busy with school and it's stayed from pure laziness. Although now that it's getting hot out I think it may be going away soon.

we need more pics in this thread.
i shave every other day, or every third day. sorta 'slightly defrazzled'. agree about electric shavers leaving odd random hairs, but still use one because when i'm clean shaven i look really young :?

I prefer to shave, but my facial hair doesn't grow that quickly yet so I don't have to shave too often, like once per week/couple of weeks.

The same counts for hair cuts. I do somethinlg like two in one year and I feel that sort of weght up for the amount of shaving I do.

Everybody's different. You might not give up hope yet. I knew a guy a while back who was about 35, and he said his had just recently started to become full.

Me, I used to have a goatee when I was 17-19, but by the time I was 20 it filled in and that's when I started letting it grow.

To fulfil the request for pics, here's one of me 5 years ago (I was 22 at the time). Sorry about the low res, I use it as an avatar on some other forums..

I have a natural Fu Manchu...with about six stray hairs on each cheek. Nothing else grows. In all actuality, it's rather nice. I don't have to shave very often, and when I do it doesn't take too long.
