Looking for the SHMUPS community support!
Hi all!
Most of you here probably know me fairly well from the forum, and I'm making a quick appeal today.
My little brother has been working with a friend on an Animated short film, which has won many stages so far to reach a final selection. They're up for a Bafta award if they can win the public vote.
It's currently been advertised all this week on the UK's ITV news, and to see the selection of films and place a vote, you can visit the website here.
The film is called 'Knock em Dead'

Here's a message from my little brother for you guys (he's not registered here, but he sent me an email:)
Hiya everyone! George Massey here. Two friends and I made an animated film that is currently in a competition called the Best of Borough’s and was short listed into the final 6 out of 41 other shorts. If we win this public vote then we win a Bafta. (The competition is being advertised every night this week on ITV News 'London Tonight'.)
Apologies for ITV’s crappy stream. It’s squashed when it should be widescreen and you’re losing so many frames that the slickest, fastest (best) moments of the movie suffer. The sound runs smoothly though so please, please, please use at least earphones and get the bass on. Copyright law resulted in us making all of the music from scratch and an awful lot of work went into timing it all properly.
'Eastern Edge Film Fund' weren’t very fair to us. We didn’t have enough time to finish it to the standard we’d like and we only had a quarter of the budget that the other 5 nominated films had. Therefore we’re finishing it up separately because we're perfectionists and it was impossible to make it perfect in the 2 month deadline (24 frames a second. That might give you an idea of what you're missing when the stream starts juddering.)One day soon we promise you a version that's superior to this in every way. However this is the version nominated for a Bafta, so check it out and don't forget to vote.
Click the link and one of the films will start playing automatically (It's a badly designed site so they usually start playing at a random point in the film). To the right of it you should see all 6 films to click and watch with the option to vote below.
Double click the movie to make it full screen.
Our movie's called 'Knock em' Dead'. Spread it around.
Enjoy!
Thanks to you all, I'm sure you'll like the short, they worked their butts off.
On a side note, when all the brawling begins, it's with a bunch of what we call 'chavs', those in the US might just say street punks or something. The EE film fund gave them no additional time to flesh out this key scene where they're supposed to taunt and menace the character to stop him reaching the stadium. Instead it can look a bit like he just goes randomly beating people! But either way, it's just wacky fun - and this sort of thing has never even been near a Bafta before.
Cheers!
SK

Thanks guys, keep em coming - your support is really needed. We might actually get these guys a well deserved Bafta, which will be first for a UK anime effort.

Thanks guys, you're all awesome - apparently before today ITV had a particularly awful stream for their film, which was stuttering so much it was losing frames. Apparently at the end, when the character is running down the stairs, it only looked like a single frame with no animation.
They have been trying to contact ITV all week to correct it, and show it in its natural widescreen. Personally, we think they've been done an injustice, because the only TV advertising was this week, meaning people viewing for the first time didn't see the film properly at all - that's why your support today is really important!
Glad you guys like it, keep them votes coming.

Thanks LGB, I do hope there are as many votes going through as there are views on this thread!
If you're passing through, take a look at the film, it only takes a minute and its ace. Don't forget to vote - its spam free.

Thanks guys, you rock! I also liked your choices Laydock, especially 5 pound Hollywood, but I'm glad you're keeping it real with the votes.
Should mention, in a blatant but justified attempt at slander, 5 pound Hollywood was made by a woman who works for the BBC and has years of experience and access to equipment and a large budget, which I thought made it a bit of an unfair entry but there you go.
That said, its very watchable and it made me cry. Almost.
