The only motorsport I watch is the local one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiIe1ywMFfg
Trek trough the Galaxy on silver wings and play football online.
agreed, its been a long time since F1 had any real motoring heros nowShatterhand wrote: Ayrton Senna is a hero.

sadly one of our times bigest motorcyclng heroes recently passed aswell, Martin Finnegan.. RIP
heres an excellent vid celebrating his memory: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MDz8MhF0qM
he could truly outride anything, anywhere and at any time, i have a DVD with a onboard footage from a couple of his laps at isle of man.. it is gutwrenching just watching it and i used to race motorbikes myself

the destruction of everything, is the beginning of something new. your whole world is on fire, and soon, you'll be too..
Ayrton Senna was a pure driver and easily one of the best Formula 1 has ever seen. For my generation, I became interested because of Senna(after Imola '94). Having said that, I think Formula 1 was interesting, until 1999 or so. I think the last couple seasons have been ok with the likelihood of a new winner every-so-often.Shatterhand wrote:I am a big fan of F1 since I was a kid. Ayrton Senna is a hero.
WRC is also very interesting as the usage of near retail cars. Group B certainly was an interesting class, but like F1 now, I rarely watch anything.

Rally of course. Not because I actually watch it (don't care to watch any motorsports), but because the video games are fun. Travelling around mountains and powersliding on dirt and ice and stuff is way more fun than going around in circles on pavement any day!
Plus Richard burns rally had some of the most realistic physics ever. Fantastic game

Of the listed choices, I'd have to say that F1 is the favorite in my family (my parents have dogs named Imola and Minardi, if that's any indication,) although I do have to say American Le Mans Series is another of my favorites. I've been to the Utah Grand Prix for two of the three years that it's been run, and I'm currently planning to head down to Laguna Seca for the season finale race there in October. I wrote a post on my Blog not too long ago with a bunch of photos from last year's race. One of these days I'd like to go see an F1 race somewhere in Europe, but I figure that's not going to happen for quite a while.
The IndyCar Series.*
No other major racing series in the world challenges its drivers with a balanced mix of oval/road/street racing. The 2008 IndyCar Series comprises of races at 11 ovals, 3 road courses, and 5 street courses. The 2009 IndyCar Series will most likely feature a 50/50 mix of oval racing and road/street racing.
Compared to F1, the IndyCar Series is more of a driver's series instead an engineer's series. And it's more competitive than F1 with much more passing and many more drivers and teams capable of winning races.
* The split in American open wheel racing (that lasted from 1996 - 2007) ended earlier this year with the reunification of the Champ Car World Series and IndyCar Series.
