Haha, that makes sense then, and certainly makes Twiddle's post funnier. I think I got confused with someone else who has a three letter name. Cave fan... Uhhh... EOJ, yeah, that's it. Somehow I was confusing TIW for EOJ's old username of TWE.incognoscente wrote:tiw was an alternate account Twiddle created when he forgot his password. forum democracy!?!

I think you have to look at this from a mod's perspective. Yeah, Shoe was harmless and had some good posts, but a his signal-to-noise ratio was undeniably low. It's easy enough to mentally filter out for the average board member, but the mods have to take a more active role (i.e., actually read through all his shit and lock stuff where appropriate, on their own time, in a timely matter nonetheless). As a regular board member, I wouldn't ban Shoe. If I had to wade through his posts to determine which ones were actually relevant, I'd probably ban him too.

Fixed?Davey wrote:I think you have to look at this from a mod's perspective. Shoe called Herr Schatten a newb to his face!

That said, Shoe was trolling???? I thought he was just being Shoe, not trying to get a rise out of anybody in particular. You either found it amusing and looked for his point, or you didn't, I suppose those were the only options that occured to me.

You mean the few that haven't banned him. It's like a shopping list of bans.szycag wrote:Uhhh, don't really get the "poor shoe" argument, he's still yakking it up on IRC and doesn't really seem scathed. Glad to see some people got the rug reference

I think people have a too romantic idea of the whole concept of democracy.
You simply can't threaten people and then expect them to act like nothing has happened.
You should all be happy that you even got an answer from the mods.
In real democracies, like the countries we live in, we wouldn't even got an answer in the first place.
So why don't we make this thread really interesting by letting everybody name the members they think would deserve a ban before shoe-sama did.

I was joking a little really. I'm sure Shoe has plenty of ways to while away his hours with whatever it his he does all day. I'm sure most of it involves nonsnce.szycag wrote:Uhhh, don't really get the "poor shoe" argument, he's still yakking it up on IRC and doesn't really seem scathed. I don't think 'poor shoe' either. I think it's a shame somebody with the ability to post (very rarely) intelligent and informed (and still funny) posts put themselves in a position where the mods clearly needed to inforce a ban...

Unfortunately I don't want anybody in particular to get banned so I don't have anybody that I think would deserve it more than shoe-sama.
Ok, you now.

I've been banned from a forum I was a mod once. I was a mod and got banned without being "demoted" to normal user. I got in a personal grudge with one of the... 5 admins or so they had. This forum doesn't even exist anymore, and I never asked to be a mod in the first place (Sometimes I felt I was wasting my time there), but kindly accpted when they asked me to be one. It was a brazilian forum BTW.D wrote:Did a mod ever got banned?
-Serious question.
Or is that a touchy subject?
-a joke to soothe the awkwardness of this request.
So there it is
