I tend to prefer psX these days for its simplicity, but ePSXe definitely still has the best compatibility. Will have to chexor out the new release.

Wow, nasty little app.
I was unable to kill the process and unable to shutdown.
My pc has run stable for the last year. I cannot recall when I had to jank the ac cable out of my pc.
Be advised that you are now warned. I do no endorse this.
Running XP Home version.
It might run fine for you gents though. please report if you have troubles as well to warn others.

I had six instances of it not closing out (behold my shock when I did windows task manager and found six instances of the damned emu not closing out, I thought my copy of Gradius Gaiden was fried, it wasn't), after I closed all 6 out the emu ran fine, but it should've closed out when I exited the emulator, though this hasn't happened since.

Honestly, I haven't been able to get the previous version of ePSXe running on this PC. Was able to get it going on a commodity XP bocks from some years ago though.

Is it still a maze of plugins and other worthless garbage?

I never had problems with previous versions :? Kind of worried about trying this new version though :?
